“I got you, Hails. Come on.”
He picks me up, nodding to someone. Then I’m weightless again as I’m carried. I don’t keep my eyes open. He walks for several minutes before laying me in a bed. Then he leaves only to come back with two bottles of water. He helps me sit up, telling me to drink some.
Even the water flowing down my throat feels amazing.
“I’m going to stay in here with you to watch you, but you can’t touch me. You’re like my sister, I can’t have you rubbing on me.”
“It feels so good though, doesn’t it?”
He shakes his head. “It’s going to be a long night.”
For several hours, I can’t stop fidgeting, but Jacob keeps his promise. He sits next to me, letting me move as much as I need. Even with my constant moans, he stays, letting me babble about anything and everything. Mostly I talk about how good I feel, but then my thoughts shift. I’m talking about Nate. I can only hope I’m not revealing secrets because right now, I can’t keep my thoughts straight.
Then I start to feel the crash. Before I know it, the darkness takes me. The last thought on my mind is of the beautiful hazel eyes that haunt my dreams. The man who has overcome my thoughts.
Nate.
Twenty-Five
Unknown:It’s time
One single text makes my entire body freeze. It’s an unknown number, but I know what it means. I’m up to the plate and I better not miss.
I quickly text back.
Me: I’m here.
My heart hammers in my chest as I consider what my next task might be. Getting close with Tiffany was necessary. I knew it would get me closer to the top.
Unknown: Bring him to the old energy plant at six pm.
Me: Bring who?
Unknown: You know who. Don’t be late.
I look at the time. It’s four now. That gives me little to no time to convince Nate. Fuck.
Standing, I pace the room. I know they have been monitoring me. Katie said as much before.
Their texts have mentioned things I’ve spoken about in my room alone.
That means they are watching me. I need to get word to Willow, though. I can’t lead Nate into a trap without warning her so she can bring the calvary.
Pausing, I pick up my phone and dial Nate.
First things first. I need him to agree to meet me.
“What?” he barks into the phone.
“Pick me up at five-thirty sharp,” I bite out.
“Yeah right. Already looking for another taste?”
I scoff. “Trust me, you’ll want to be here at five-thirty. Or don’t. I honestly don’t care.”
I hang up before he can respond. Hopefully that was vague enough to pique his curiosity.
Now how to get a message to Willow.
