“Go, pick something out. You can try as many on as you would like. I’ll be right over here if you need me.” She points toward the makeshift makeup station.
I all but run over to the racks and begin looking. He picked a little bit of everything. White, off-white, a blush color. Lace, satin, fitted, and big. My hand hovers over an off-white lace dress. It has a boho feel with its off-the-shoulder sleeves.
“That would look gorgeous on you,” Cam says softly.
“I would love to try it on.”
“You should be able to get into that one by yourself, but if you need help, just yell.” She smiles.
I grab the dress and walk over to the partition, slipping behind it. I take off the robe and drape it over the corner. Slowly, I slide the dress on. I walk out from behind the partition and walk toward the mirror. When I look up, I can’t help but pause, completely blown away.
It’s perfect.
“That dress was made for you, Mrs. O’Reilly,” Cam says as she lays out the small train.
The dress fits me like a glove from the way it hugs my curves. I turn slightly and take in the back. It’s backless all the way down to right above my ass, showing off my tan skin.
“This is it,” I murmur. I bite my lip, thinking of how Killian will react to seeing me.
“How about you take it off and we do your hair and makeup.”
Wordlessly I slip back behind the partition and slip the dress off. I slide the dress back onto a hanger and hang it on the partition before slipping the robe back on.
“I think you’re more of a natural makeup kind of girl, am I right?” Cam asks as I walk out.
“I am,” I confirm.
“Sweet. While I apply your makeup, how about you take a look at these.”
I take a seat in the chair as Cam passes me a case. Opening it, I find it filled with men’s rings to choose from. I skip right over the silver and gold rings and look at the black ones. My eyes are instantly drawn to the black one with a gray design that looks like Celtic knots.
“Perfect,” I whisper, taking the ring out of the case.
“Oh, that one is nice. It’s made of Tungsten, so it won’t break or scratch.”
“This is it.” I smile, thinking of how it will look on his finger.
I rest the ring case in my lap and play with Killian’s ring as she does my makeup. Once finished she moves onto my hair. Doing natural curls and leaving it down.
Once she’s done, I run back upstairs, slipping the green lingerie on before rushing back downstairs and putting the dress on.
“Thank you for helping me today.”
“It was my pleasure.” She smiles warmly. “Mr. O’Reilly left you one more gift. I set it on the table. Make sure you remember to grab his ring.” She winks. “Better not keep him waiting long.”
I watch as she walks out of the house before walking over to the table. I open the box and take in the things inside.
A ghrá,
I know that no matter how much you deny it, you’re one for traditions.
Your dress is something new.
I got you something borrowed and blue. I took the liberty of swiping one of Bash’s pocket swatches. You can pin it on your bouquet or inside your dress. For something old, I took this bracelet from the family collection. I hope you’ll wear it today.
Your husband,
Killian
