“Who sent you?” Greer demands from behind me.
“You really are dumb. I can’t believe you took him down.” Thomas clucks his tongue.
I know why he did what he did, but she needs to hear it from him. Then, maybe she will let me protect her a little better. I’d never tell her to stop her mission, but she needs back-up other than Enzo.
“You better start speaking or else I’ll step in. Trust me, you don’t want that,” Bash sneers.
“Your sister is a murderer,” he says, ripping his jaw from my hold. He spits blood onto the floor. “Ask her about Thomas Bradley Henderson Sr.”
I see Enzo stiffen out of the corner of my eye as Greer gasps behind me.
“Greer?” Bash asks.
Greer silently steps up next to me, staring at the man. “You’re his son.”
Her soft voice draws my eyes to her.
“Congratulations. Do you want a prize for figuring it out?” he spews.
“Fuck,” Enzo says.
“Who’s Thomas Bradley Henderson Sr.,a ghrá?” I ask, pulling her into my side, giving her the chance to tell her brother the truth.
Greer licks her lips. “Two years ago I took him out. There was a hit on him on the black market. Evidence upon evidence that he was a child molester. Not only was he the head of a kidnapping ring where they would auction off children, but there was video evidence of him having sexual relations with little boys. Little boys who were screaming out for him to stop.”
“Liar!” the man screams.
Enzo lunges forward, hitting the man so hard the chair falls back, knocking him out. “His youngest victim was a baby!” Enzo roars. “I remember walking in and finding Greer in tears as the video rolled!”
“What did you do, Greer?” Bash asks.
“The families would have never had justice if he just died. They would have never known who hurt their kids or anything. So I set him up,” she rasps, squeezing her eyes shut. “I took his money and set up an offshore account. Next year all the victim’s families will get an anonymous donation. With the rest of it, I donated to organizations who save kids...” She trails off.
“What else?” I whisper.
“I made an anonymous tip to the FBI on where to look. There was a raid. When Henderson was arrested, they found not only evidence on his laptop that I made sure he didn’t delete but souvenirs too. He got a life sentence.”
“He was shanked as soon as he got into prison,” Enzo says, rubbing his brow.
The man groans on the floor, coming to.
“You wanted revenge,” Bash growls, kicking the man’s ribs. “Are you like him too, huh?”
“Yes, I wanted revenge! My father was a good man!” the man yells out.
“A good man doesn’t hurt children!” Lo hisses as he sets the man’s chair back upright.
Gio wordlessly hands him a hammer.
“Are you like him?” Lo asks, slamming the hammer down onto the man’s fingers, crushing them. “Do you like to hurt children?” he yells, slamming it down again.
“No!” he cries.
“Why me?” I demand, pushing Lo out of the way. I remove a knife from my pocket, barely restraining from stabbing him.
“It took me a while, but I figured out that the only person she cares about is you. She took away the only family I had, so I decided to take out the man she loves,” he sneers, breathing hard.
“How did you figure it out?” Greer asks, stepping forward.
