We both walk to the door in silence.

“Thanks for having me,” I say awkwardly.

“You are always welcome here,” he says, opening the door. He ushers me out and follows. Once outside, he turns, eyeing me. “Everything really okay?”

“Everything is fine. I promise,” I reassure him.

“I don’t believe you. Something is going on with Killian, isn’t it?” he asks. When I don’t respond, he heaves out a sigh. “Just be careful, okay?” he says, looking back at me.

“I will.”

Gio pulls me in for a hug. “Don’t do anything stupid. Remember, someone is always watching,” he murmurs into my ear.

“Always.” I step away, waving over my shoulder.

Once in the cab, I look out the window and see Gio standing there, arms crossed with a frown on his face.

Out of all of them, I’m glad it’s Gio that caught on. He’s loyal to Bash, but he always had a soft spot for me.

Maybe he’ll keep it to himself and give me time to figure out what I’m going to do.

Stepping into the room, the sound of running water catches my attention. Rushing over to the couch, I grab my laptop, dropping my bag onto the floor. Opening my computer, I hit the power button. While it loads, I grab a couple bottles of water and a few snacks that we have lying around. I shoot off a quick text to Killian letting him know I’m staying at the hotel tonight.

“Time apart is good for couples,” I mumble to myself.

Sitting back down, I move the laptop onto my lap and pull up my playlist. Then I get to work. I follow the trail of a man who has drugged multiple women at nightclubs, then take them back to his room where he takes inappropriate photos of them to sell online.

He’s been reported multiple times, but the man pays everyone off, getting off scot-free. While the women suffer the consequences of his actions. They have to live with the fact that their photos are out there for all to see.

“Holy shit!” Enzo yells, making me jump.

“What?” I look around, looking for a threat.

“When did you get back? In fact, why didn’t you call me to come get you?” he snaps, clutching a towel around his waist.

“Maybe you should put some clothes on before yelling at me.” I raise a brow.

Enzo looks down and rushes back to his room, suddenly realizing he was naked.

I laugh as I take a drink of water.

A few minutes later he walks back into the living room, fully clothed.

“I jumped in a cab in front of Gio’s. I’m sure he had one of his guys follow me,” I reassure him.

“But I’m your guard, Greer. It’s my job to protect you, not anyone else’s,” he says as he paces.

“That’s true. But I was safe. You deserved an afternoon off.”

“What made you rush back?” he asks, rubbing his face.

“I got a hit on Denton.”

Enzo nods in understanding. “I’ll call room service and have them bring some food up.”

“That’s why you’re my favorite,” I tease.
