The elevator carries us to the top as Greer and I just stare at each other.
“What are you looking at?”
“You.”
“Why?” she asks with a small smile.
“Because you’re mine.” I smirk as she laughs, shaking her head.
“Always so confident.”
“Always,” I tell her as the elevator jerks to a stop.
Stepping forward, I take her hand in mine once again and pull her out of the metal box. I hear Greer grasp as the door to the rooftop opens, revealing our mode of transportation.
“A helicopter ride?” she yells over the whirling blades.
I pull her forward, ducking without answering her. We slide into the helicopter, grabbing our headsets off of the seats before buckling in. I give the pilot a nod, letting him know we're ready for takeoff.
“Good evening, Mr. O’Reilly and Miss Catalini. The flight to our destination tonight will take about thirty minutes. It should be an easy flight.”
“This is so exciting!” Greer claps her hands with a gleam in her eye. “Where are we going?” she asks as the pilot lifts us off of the rooftop.
“You’ll find out in another thirty minutes,” I tell her as she rolls her eyes.
The ride goes by in the blink of an eye with Greer pointing out the window at the ever-changing scenery below. The sun sets right as we descend, making Greer gasp.
“Look, Kill!” she says as she hits the top of my leg.
“Beautiful,” I murmur, looking at her rather than the view, making her blush.
“Such a charmer,” she says with a little smile on her face.
The helicopter lands and the pilot shuts it down as we take off the headsets and unbuckle.
“How was it?” the pilot asks, turning in his seat.
“Amazing, thank you so much,” Greer gushes.
“You’re welcome.” He nods at her, turning to me. “Just let me know when you’re ready to take off and I’ll be ready.”
“Thank you,” I tell him as I open the door. I jump down, turning around, and reach for Greer. Grabbing her hips, I pick her up, setting her on the ground next to me.
“Where to next?”
“Who says the airport isn’t the destination?” I tease, making her roll her eyes.
We walk toward the black town car.
The driver opens the back door for us. We both nod at him before sliding in.
As the car pulls away from the airport, Greer leans over, kissing my cheek. “Thank you.”
As she pulls away, I grab the back of her head, pulling her close once again and kiss her lips. “Anytime.”
Fifteen minutes later, we turn down a long private driveway. Soon enough, the estate comes into view. The elaborate stone home looks grand with the water fountain in front of it.
“What is this place?” Greer asks as the car comes to a stop.
