His words do nothing to soothe me. When we started this, I didn’t think about all the people who would be affected. What if this fizzles out? Will they disappear as fast as Mick?

“Stop that brain of yours. You worry as much as Striker. I love you, Shane. That’s not going to change. So let me love you.”

He leans forward and kisses me softly. Then he kisses me again. As he kisses me a third time, he deepens the kiss, slipping his tongue in my mouth.

This isn’t the sex we normally have. Usually we are all rough and fast, not able to get enough of each other.

Not tonight. Tonight, Mick does what I always tell him to do. He shows me with his actions how he feels.

With every soft caress, I feel how much he cares for me. When he finally slips inside, his eyes locked on mine, I see his love for me. How much he truly adores me. When we finally come apart together, moaning out each other’s names, I feel what he wants me to feel.

His unconditional love and devotion to me.

He loves me.

Chapter 7

Shane

Nina insisted that we go out and show Autumn around tonight before they head out tomorrow. So here we are at Rif’s. The bar is packed so Kaylee’s working more than hanging out, but it’s still a good time.

“So since it looks like Mick took one of ours off the market, how would you feel about going out with me sometime, Autumn?” Jake teases.

“Seriously, man?” Striker grumbles, side-eyeing Jake.

Autumn takes a drink and sets down her beer bottle. “Sorry, but I think I’m going to have to pass.”

“You wound me, woman!” Jake leans back, clutching his chest, making everyone laugh.

“Sorry.” Autumn shrugs. “But I’m already happily taken. You missed your shot, bud.”

“All good, sweetheart, I was just teasing.”

“Teasing or not, I love the way you put him in his place, girlfriend,” Kaylee says, handing out a new round of drinks.

“Spoken like a true sister. Basking in the joy of seeing your brother being shot down cold.” I smirk, raising my glass to her.

Kaylee winks. A slow song comes on and Mick taps my hip, getting my attention.

“Dance with me, baby girl?” he murmurs, standing from his seat.

I take his hand and follow him to the dance floor, Autumn catcalling us. I throw her a wink over my shoulder, making her laugh.

I love that he loves to dance with me. No longer am I sitting on the sidelines while Kaylee’s being spun around the floor. I’m the one being wooed.

Mick pulls me into him, one hand on my lower back, the other holding my hand against his chest. “Thank you for being so amazing.”

“There’s nothing to thank me for,” I say softly.

“My mother and sister randomly showed up at your door. You didn’t run and hide, you just rolled with it,” he reminds me.

“In case you’ve forgotten, I’ve talked to your mom a lot over the last few years. It was fun actually meeting her, and Autumn’s a riot.”

“She’s something all right,” he grumbles.

“Stop, you love her.” I laugh.

“That may be, but that doesn’t mean I have to love what she does.”
