“What the fuck,” I grumble.

“What’s wrong?” Shane asks.

“Apparently we’ve been ousted as a couple.”

“Is that a bad thing?” Shane asks with hurt in her voice.

“God no, I’m just trying to figure out who told them before I could.” Shane and I look at each other and turn to look at Striker at the same time.

“Is this the payback?” I ask.

“I have no idea what you’re talking about.”

Asher: Solid idea, but who will make sure our fridges are stocked weekly?

Autumn: We will discuss this later. Open the door, Aiden.

“Oh shit,” I mutter, standing up, stalking toward the front door.

“What did you do?” Shane hisses at Striker.

“I couldn’t let him get away with sleeping with my baby sister without a little bit of retaliation.” Striker laughs.

I swing the door open and there they stand.

“Mom, Autumn, what are you two doing here?”

“Are you going to let us in?” Mom asks with a raised brow, making Autumn giggle.

“Of course.” I move to the side, opening the door. “Please, come in.”

Mom lightly taps my cheek with her palm as she walks by. “Such a good boy. Now, where are Joshy and Shane?”

“In the kitchen,” I tell her, pointing down the hall.

“I will join them, grab our bags,” Mom calls over her shoulder.

I turn toward my sister. “Thanks for the warning,” I whisper harshly.

“Oh, come on. Like you didn’t see this coming from a mile away,” Autumn teases.

“That’s beside the point,” I hiss.

“Suck it up, buttercup.” She slaps my shoulder. “Come on, we better get the bags before she comes back out here to check on us.”

I follow my sister outside to her rental SUV and open the back, grabbing both bags from the trunk while she grabs her purse.

“How long are you two staying?” I ask, walking to the front door.

“That’s a question for Mom, I’m just the driver.”

We walk in and I see Shane standing there in the entry, rubbing her hands.

“Is this really happening?” she asks softly.

“My mother and sister invading? Definitely. Let’s just be glad it’s only the two of them and not all four.” I set down the bags and pull Shane into my arms. “It will be okay, I promise. They don’t bite.”

“Much,” Autumn teases, walking by.
