“That’s true,” Doc agrees. “I wonder how Kylen got away with not allowing you to go back to the Keep. Especially if there were things that you were supposed to be taught.”

Coen shrugs, “I honestly have no idea. Whatever he said though, it must have been convincing, because I wasn’t forced to go back, and no one questioned it as odd.”

Neith frowns, “He probably said that he would tell you everything that you needed to know, and there was most likely a long list of excuses that he used.”

Coen nods, “Yeah, he didn’t go back that often to be fair.”

“Oh, I know,” Ransom exclaims. Interrupting the conversation. “What about Sully? He might know what it means that Neith can hear Coen.”

Neith smiles, “Well, it’s worth a shot asking him. I wanted to go and see him anyway. I would be surprised that he hasn’t rung me and demanded I go and see him, if it wasn’t for the fact that I forgot to put my phone on charge,” she winces slightly while she tries not to smile and adds, “and may have forgotten where I put it.”

I try not to laugh as Griff’s eyes widen, and he dramatically throws his hands up in the air.

“Why am I not surprised?” he grins.

I shrug, “In my defense, it pretty much became a paperweight as soon as the battery died. I know that it’s in one of my bags, at least I’m pretty sure that it is.”

The guys all burst out laughing.

“She’s not wrong,” Reed agrees with a smile, and Griff just shakes his head.

“I’m going to find it,” I tell him. “I actually need to, not just because of Sully, but because he gave my number to certain people so that they couldcontact me if they need my particular skillset, like Niamh did. Oh, and Navy, and the guys, I need to talk to them too.”

Van smiles, “Why don’t we go and have lunch?” He looks at his watch, “late lunch. You can find your phone and put it on charge, and then we can go and see Sully before he opens.”

I nod, “Yeah, that sounds good to me. You guys were right before about burning a lot of energy, I’m fucking starving.”

“I’m not surprised you’ve done a lot of flying today. You did really well,” Reed smiles as we all head back toward the house.

I grin, “Thank you.”

Chapter Thirteen

Neith

“Do you think that Sully will be able to tell you more now that we know who your parents are?” Ransom asks curiously.

“I don’t see why he wouldn’t be able to. Unless there are even more things that we don’t know about,” Raiden replies, frowning slightly at the thought.

I frown, “I really hope that he can. I want to talk to him about it all before I go to find Pete.”

Doc nods, “That makes sense actually. Sully has been there for you for a long time, and although you know Pete, he hasn’t been honest with you.”

I nod, “Sully hasn’t been honest with me either, but he has tried to be, and at the end of the day, I trust Sully. He’s saved my life, he’s been there and helped me as much as he has been able to, and although Pete has been there as well, he’s still been quite stand-offish, and only said the odd word here andthere to me. Which I know he may not have had much choice in, but urgh, it’s really difficult to explain.”

River squeezes my hand, “It’s okay, you don’t need to explain it to us. We’ll follow your lead.”

“Absolutely,” Coen replies, having been filled in on that situation last night. “However you want to handle it, that’s what we will do.”

“You guys are awesome,” I reply.

“We know,” Reed teases.

Lunch took longer than we had intended because we had to find something to eat that hadn't gone off, after we collectively decided that we ate too much takeout. However, it took looking through the empty fridge to realize that maybe we would have to turn over that new leaf once we had gotten some groceries, so we ordered takeout instead, and the guys told Coen about the town nearby. Something that we had forgotten last night, amongst other things that I’m sure we have forgotten. Coen was surprised that we didn’t live that far away from headquarters.

Now, I’m up in my room with River and Raiden, who decided to come with me to find my phone and put it on charge before we leave to see Sully. I’m not really sure why, and I don’t think they know. I think they just followed me when I left, and here we are.
