“How cool is that?” River adds, although there’s a hint of sadness in his voice.
Coen’s eyebrows raise, “That’s really cool actually. It also explains why he’s so good at running the Training Academy and SID.”
I nod and then grin, “Kyrous was a Berserker.”
Coen’s eyes widen with disbelief, “No fucking way.”
Raiden nods, his smile dims as he replies, “Yep. He was the last one.”
“Why does knowing that he’s dead affect me? I didn’t know him, obviously, but knowing he’s dead is like finding out that a close friend has died,” Coen asks, his expression darkening with a heavy frown.
“It does for me as well,” I admit. “That’s a good way to describe the feeling, actually, it’s exactly like that.”
“Same,” Neith replies. “It did when we first heard about it as well. I think that it’s because he’s supposed to be a part of our team. So in a way, even though we didn’t know it, we’ve always had a connection to him.”
Ransom nods, “Yeah, that makes sense actually. We know that being on a Warrior Bonded team connects us in ways that we don’t really understand,” he lifts up his forearm to show his mark, and continues, “and these prove that.”
“Agreed,” Griff says. He frowns, “Do we know where they were?”
“What do you mean?” I ask, since his question is pretty vague.
“The team that was with Kyrous. Do we know if they were in Trieneliea when Kyrous went missing or were they scouting in another realm?” Griff clarifies.
“I have absolutely no idea,” I reply. “I don’t think anyone told us that.”
The others all shrug or shake their heads, that they don’t know either.
“What are you thinking?” Coen asks curiously.
Griff’s frown deepens, “I feel like we owe it to him to find out what happened to him. Not assumptions, but actually know for sure how he died, and maybe even where he’s buried. Not that it’s likely he was buried actually, so that’s a long shot and probably not a very realistic thing to want to do.”
“No, that’s probably not possible, but it should be easy enough to find out where they were sent scouting. If it wasn’t in Trieneliea, then we could possibly go to the realm that they were in and find out what we can,” Raiden replies, his eyes lighting up with the prospect.
“I love a mystery, and this would be a good cause. A lot of people cared about Kyrous, and I think that they would all be happy to know what happened to him,” River adds.
Coen nods, “I think it’s a really good idea, and I doubt that Ty would mind us taking some time off to go and find him. Especially since he was Kyrous’ second in command.”
I shake my head, “We won’t be able to tell him that we’re going to find Kyrous. At least I don’t think we will.”
“He’s right. Ty brought up Kyrous when we were on the phone with him, and neither of us could say anything about him. We couldn’t tell Ty that Kyrous was supposed to be on our team,” Evander explains.
“Oh, the silencing spell that was on the chamber,” Coen replies with a frown. “It might not apply to this though. We won’t be telling Ty that Kyrous is supposed to be on our team, we will be going to locate him. Although trying to explain why we would want to do that may be complicated.”
“You’re right, but I think that we could probably come up with a plausible reason between us,” Neith agrees.
“I guess the first thing to do would be to see if we can talk to Ty about Kyrous and ask questions. So that we know what the silencing spell covers,” Evander says, the wheels in his head turning.
“If we can do that, and it turns out that Kyrous wasn’t in Trieneliea, then it would be a good indicator that we can ask to go there and find out what happened,” Raiden says, thoughtfully.
“We could maybe use the vision thing that we had in Ireland to explain why we want to go,” Griff suggests.
Before Coen can ask, I quickly explain the vision, so he does feel like he’s missing huge chunks of information, even though it’s becoming increasingly apparent that we have left out quite a bit.
“Thanks, man,” Coen grins. “At some point, I’ll be all caught up.” He looks at Griff, “I think that’s probably the best way to explain why we want to go after Kyrous if we can’t tell Ty the truth.”
Reed nods, “Agreed.”
Evander sighs, “Okay, so we’re agreed that at some point we want to go after Kyrous and see what we can find out, but I also think that we need to put it on hold for the time being. We have some other things that we need todeal with that need to be our top priority. Neith and her new magic, Pete, the Blue Fucker and the hybrids, and there is so much research that we need to go through as well.”
