We need to have a discussion about Kyrous and what it could mean that he’s on our team.

It’s weird, but when we were being told about him, it upset me that he was dead, which didn’t make any sense because I’ve never met the man. This would probably explain that feeling.

Now is not the time to go through any of that though. Well, we couldn’t if we tried, we won’t be able to discuss it with Ty or anyone else, apart from each other.

Ty raises his eyebrow, “Just so that you are both aware, I will not be giving you any updates on cases or anything else, until your week is up. If you decide that you need longer, that is absolutely fine. However, I know you guys, and I would be willing to bet that by the time that the week is up, you will all be itching to get back to work.”

“That’s a very valid point,” Van agrees over the phone while I just smirk. Van continues, “I’ll see you back at home, Doc.”

“I’ll be back in a couple of minutes,” I reply.

As soon as Evander has hung up, Ty hands me a familiar looking card and a new badge that officially shows that Coen is on our team.

Exactly where he should have been from the start.

“Here you go,” Ty says as I take it all. He then adds, “Let him know that he’s been paid everything that he should have earned if Kylen hadn’t stolen it all.”

My eyes widen, that’s a lot of money. “Thanks, Ty, I’ll let him know.”

Ty nods, “It’s the least I can do. I’ll call Fetrick in tomorrow. Draith will have most likely detained Rupert by that time, and I will let Jamie’s alpha know exactly what his part was in it.”

I nod, “You should know that it wasn’t a case of simple control, they tortured him, Ty.”

Ty pales, anger flashing in his eyes, “Fuck.”

“From what I can gather from the snippets that Coen has told us, it was Kylen mainly, but the others joined in. I’m sure that Fetrick will be more than willing to fill you in on more, but for the moment, I would suggest waiting until Coen is ready to tell you from his point of view,” I reply.

I had no intention of getting into this now, but it’s important and needs to be said.

Ty nods, “Understood. Draith will call on him, that’s just the way that the dragons work. I would imagine that he will leave it for as long as he possibly can though. He likes Coen and, of course, Neith. I would imagine he would be able to give you a few weeks at least.”

“That’s good to know,” I reply.

“You should also know that Coen will have to tell Draith everything, again, that’s the way that dragons work, because of that, I don’t need to know, and he won’t need to be questioned by me. Draith will deal with Rupert, and I know Jamie’s alpha, he will take my word and what you have told me. That will be enough for him to decide Jamie’s fate.”

I nod, “I will let Coen know. He may want to give you some extra information about their involvement and things. As I said, I am pretty sure that Kylen was the force behind it all.”

Ty nods, “That’s another reason why I’m sure that Draith will leave it a few weeks before calling Coen in. He will know that Kylen more than deserved it.”

“And Coen left the others alive, I think that should go in his favor as well.”

“Absolutely,” Ty agrees. “I will handle everything here. I will make sure that everyone knows that you will carry on working here and have no intention of going anywhere. By the time that you do start working the Hybridcase again, and dealing with, as you call him, the Blue Fucker, everything should have calmed down somewhat.”

I nod, “Great, thanks, Ty. I’ll let everyone know.” Before I gather the magic around me to go home, there is one more question that I want to ask while I’m here, “What about HID? Have they said anything?”

Ty’s expression darkens, but he shakes his head, “Not yet, but I am expecting something from them. I would be very surprised if they decided to take the smart option and not throw a hissy fit. I don’t know what argument they’re going to take though, as they thought she was dead, and it’s questionable how she supposedly died. We know that it was at their hands, and if they bring it up then they know that we’re going to look into it properly.”

Chapter Seven

Doc

“It really wouldn’t be a good idea for them to come to you trying to cause problems when it comes to Neith,” I reply with a frown. “Surely they can’t be that stupid, and they would know that it wouldn’t go well for them if they did?”

“No, it wouldn’t go well for them, but honestly, I can see them trying to use some sort of warped logic as to why we should give them Neith, or something equally ridiculous,” Ty replies.

My eyebrows hit my hairline. “Do you really think that they would ask for Neith?”

Ty frowns heavily, “I think it’s a possibility. Especially since we know that they are giving supernaturals to the Blue Fucker, or at least we are pretty sure that they are. It depends if he was the one who wanted Neith dead, and if he still has an interest in her.”
