Jediah continued to watch Cameron. He’d recruited Cameron into the family after seeing a news broadcast with Cameron taking the police on a high speed chase. That was the type of skill set Jediah needed in his close circle. He’d hired the best lawyers to ensure Cameron walked free, then he sent Cameron to school to get a truck license.Since then, everything was history.

“I need youhere, Cameron,” Jediah said.“If you weren’t there the other day…”

“Unu woulda dead.Mi know,” Cameron stated plainly, and Jediah shook his head with a slight chuckle.

“You take everything for a joke.”

“Mi naa tek it fi a joke. It’s an honor to drive fi yu, but just tell that one beside you fi stop pest mi ’bout wa mi do during mi waiting time.”

Jediah looked at Dimitri.Dimitri raised his hands in surrender, making Cameron smirk.Jediah looked through the window, watching the nightlife of Ocho Rios as his mind drifted to Ari.

They’d met on a night like this — with the sky dark, and the wind howling.

Jediah shook his head, trying to rid it of the thoughts about Ari.He hated that she’d infiltrated his mind like this, but he knew it was because no woman had ever denied him before.Ari was going to be a challenge. One he desired to conquer.

Moments later, the car parked before the steps leading to the front door of the estate’s main house.A darkly tinted SUV was parked nearby.A tall man with broad shoulders and dressed in full black stood before the car with his arms behind his back and his feet apart.Relaxed as the man seemed, Jediah knew he was on high alert.

“I don’t know him,” Jediah said.

Dimitri stopped pestering Cameron to look at the man.A smirk crawled onto his face while his eyes shone.“He’s new.Retired early from the army.”

“As if everybody weh work fi yu company don’ come from the same background,” Cameron said.

Dimitri chuckled.“True, but he’s good. His assignment should be easy and low risk while me see what he’s fully capable of.Unu naa go see him much ’cause him a go always deh wid Raven.”

Jediah’s brow raised. He reached to the pocket of his jacket to grab his travel case of cigars.“Kirani is in my house?”

Dimitri shrugged.“Don’ think the man woulda travel all the way out here dem time a night ya.Probably Raven come look fi her sister ’cause Miss B seh yu deny Acacia’s requests to visit her.”

Jediah stopped reaching for his clipper to glance at Dimitri.“Acacia will not visit the Saint family.”

“I think she knows that—” Dimitri paused as an animated noise came from the front of the car.Hissing his teeth, he reached for the door.“Mek mi hurry outta dis likkle pickney presence.”

“Man not even ten years older than me.Gwan run down old age so yu miserable self can dead before me,” Cameron said.

With one foot through the door, Dimitri chuckled. He reached forward and smacked the back of Cameron’s head.“See you tomorrow, punk.”

“Whatever,” Cameron grumbled, shrugging off Dimitri off.

“Don’t take too long to go home,” Jediah said, tucking the cigar in his mouth with one hand, and using the other to reach for the door.

“I won’t,” Cameron answered before shifting his focus to his game.

Jediah and Dimitri closed the doors behind them and approached the house.Raven’s bodyguard greeted them.Jediah nodded and continued toward the house.Dimitri stayed back to speak to his worker.

As Jediah reached for the door, it opened inward. His eyes met Raven’s.Her eyes widened at him, her lips parting slightly.Acacia, who stood behind her, gently nudged Raven’s shoulder.

“Goodnight,” Raven mumbled.

“Goodnight,” Jediah said.“Are you leaving?”

Raven took a few seconds to reply, “Yes.”

Jediah stepped aside.“Don’t let me keep you.”

Raven turned and gave Acacia a hug.“Me will mek yu know when mi reach home.”

Acacia sighed while nuzzling her head against Raven’s shoulder.“I miss you,” she confessed, on the verge of tears while holding Raven tighter.
