You didn’t have to be able to read emotions to pick up on the combination in the room of excitement, cockiness and the fear coming from the cadets. It was invigorating. I loved to scout, but this is what I thrived for. Teaching, breaking my soldiers down, and removing bad habits piece by piece, and then building them back up into Elite soldiers.

“Alright,we are going to start training with a little random demonstration.” Luca jumped off the platform and walked to the front of the crowd, and other instructors followed. Fuck, he was gorgeous.

“What do you think, gentlemen? One of us against one of them before we start to pair them off to determine skill sets?” Luca looked at the other men and smirked. Drew’s eyes lit up with excitement.

“A way for them to have a taste of what to expect? I like that. Are we holding back?” Drew asked rhetorically. Dante, Etienne, Dimitri, Luca, and Julian smiled viciously. I smiled internally, trying to keep my game face on but fuck it was hard.

“Everyone, circle formation now,” Dimitri barked, cracking his neck, looking every inch a murderer. I tried, I really did, but I couldn't help myself.

I swear the moment we are free from here, I’m climbing you all like a spider monkey.I turned to hide my face and went to get into the circle the class was forming. I rolled my eyes. What made these recruits so special? No seriously, the girls followed direction easily enough but the men were distracted. You would think having women around was a weakness and it was making me itch to teach them a thing or two. I glanced at Pixie.

I wonder if when they said no holding back, they knew that these guys were going to hold punches when coming to combat with us?I asked her.

Seems like it. I think it's their way of making it known to not hold back on the females. But I have a doubt they will use the council daughters as a demonstration just yet. I think he’s aiming for physical strength.She theorized. I had to agree. Our musings were answered a few moments later when Drew came walking around the circle and pointed at me.

“You, the smart-ass, come forward,” he said with a smile. The boys frowned, and my vampire growled in my head. They didn't know about the exchange we had outside so I had to laugh.

“You think it's funny?” Drew asked, one eyebrow raised.

I smiled, walking into the center of the circle shaking out my shoulders. “Oh, I think it’s hilarious...sir…”

“And what is that, baby shadow?” he inquired, walking his fine as Thor ass backward to the center.

I shrugged.” Nothing much sir, I simply appreciate the compliment to go first. I like to show everyone how it’s done.” I winked and he burst out laughing. He turned back to the guys, and grinned.

“I admit, Luca, when I heard about these two, I had my doubts, but I can see the appeal now. I hope she can back it up.” Drew smiled good-naturedly.

Luca shrugged. “Good luck is all I can say.” He chuckled and faced the class. “Okay class, Instructor Drew is going to demonstrate a... physical confrontation.” Everyone in the circle, except for Pixie, looked around nervously.

“Excuse me, sir?” One of the guys spoke up. “Are we to hold our punches?” He sounded genuine. At least I didn't have to chalk him up as an asshole, just a misguided guy. I was itching to get going.

“Non,” Etienne spoke up this time. “We go full force in the field, we go full force here. I don’t give a fuck if there are females in this class. Everyone can take a hit, lets’ see if you have what it takes.” The guy nodded and faced forward, looking a little conflicted.

“Let’s begin,” Drew said sharply, clearly as eager as I was.

I turned all my focus on him, still my senses open and watched him as he circled around me. Keeping my arms loose, I let him walk around me and attack me from behind. I internally started playing “You Ain’t Ready” by Skillet in my head as I sidestepped the attack, and kicked to the side, catching him in his kidneys as he moved quickly.It’s fucking on.

I attacked ruthlessly, turning to my left and approaching him directly, using his height against him, I punched him in the throat. He grabbed my arm after I made impact and went to turn it but I went with the movement and flipped to the left, the direction he was turning my arm, surprising him as it jarred my arm loose and I used the momentum to roll to the floor into a push up position, putting all my weight on my arms as I swept my lower legs and made him crash onto the floor on his back.

Grappling with a man his size is never ideal but I took my chances as he turned quickly to pin me underneath him, both arms to my chest. He left my legs pinned to his chest, and rained a flurry a blows to my face. I felt my left eye close up and I smirked, turning my face to spit the blood pooling into my mouth onto the floor. He laughed when I blew him a bloody kiss and jerked my right knee to the side, bringing my arms with his own force, turning to the side, effectively catching him on the side and rolling out of the pin hold. Still on my back, I used my upper body to flip back up to my feet and bounced on the soles of my feet as he turned around to face me again.

He growled as he approached me head-on, punching out, and I ducked his hit. Side stepping and punching him on the side with a combination that left him gasping. Feeling like I was in a Star Wars movie, no seriously, I felt a disturbance in the force, I flipped backward, simultaneously throwing a punch outwards. I looked forward, as much as I could with one eye in full working order, to see that Julian had jumped into the battle.Two on one, awesome. Like sex, but with like four less people.

They attacked at the same time. Julian moved to get me from behind he pinned my arms behind my back as Drew punched me in the gut and in the face in a combination that would have left me breathless if I wasn't totally invested in wiping the floor with these motherfuckers. I kicked back hard on Julian’s shin, making him lose balance as I kicked out with both of my legs and knocked Drew back just enough for me to use my momentum to flip Julian forward onto the floor in front of me. I stepped forward, kicking him in the stomach before he was able to grab my legs. No way was I grappling with two large men, always a better advantage on my feet.

I threw an elbow up and out, catching Thor in the chin, before I turned my body and followed up with a punch to the head.

“Combine! Now!” shouted Dante, and I was immediately surrounded by water and being suffocated with air at the same time. I closed my eyes and focused all my fire elemental power to evaporate the water while arcing toward Drew to stop, what I’m sure, was his air attack. As predicted, he turned his air to curtail the fire and fanned my flames higher, burning the water away faster. I pulled all my concentration to earth to knock them down and pin them to the floor with vines.

I held them down effortlessly as I stood up and straightened myself, slicking my sweat-soaked hair back.

“Holy shit,” Drew and Julian breathed at the same time. I smiled brightly at them and winked.

I walked back to the circle with the gazes of the class now sizing me up. I gave Pixie a fist bump and faced forward.

“Uh, aren’t you forgetting something?” Luca laughed, pointing at Drew and Julian.
