“Yup, but at least there won't be sparks and we have to weigh the benefits, besides the obvious feeling of completeness, we can feel and hear each other so if anything is ever going on, we will all know first-hand,” Dante spoke up.
“You know about that whole melding of powers after bonding, how do you all feel right now?” I asked curiously, savoring my food, seeing if they have figured it out yet.
“Powerful, more than usual,” Dimitri said with a confused look.
“I noticed the feeling of power in the shower,” added Etienne.
“Okay, but how do you feel? Reach into your soul, into your reservoir of power, what do you feel?” I urged, suddenly excited.
The men closed their eyes for a moment and so many emotions and reactions were being projected into the room.
“Wait, how is that possible? I don’t feel an ending, how can someone have an unlimited reservoir, does that mean I can use magic and literally never stop?” Luca asked.
I nod. “You should also be able to use all my powers too. Pixie and I dabble here and there but have never fully practiced using all of my abilities. Although clearly that has to change now. ”
“How did this happen?” Dimitri asked.
I knew he was referring to the source of my powers so I answered honestly. Not like we can keep secrets anyway. Mind barriers though? Totally a must. No one needs images of tupperwaring pussy.
“My parents had a really tough time conceiving. They were able to get their hands on a potion that allowed them to finally bring me around. But instead of surging into my magick when I was twelve, I surged at birth. On my way down the vaginal slide, I used elemental fire and she was never able to have children again.
“Regardless, it wasn’t as if they could ask around to see if everything was okay with me. They knew a baby like me would raise too many eyebrows. So I was kept hiding away on our property.”
I smiled, leaning back on the couch as I recounted a few stories fondly. “Growing up was uniquely different than I could imagine someone else’s childhood would be. I would throw water balls when I was in my bath and my mom would laugh. The house was full of toys, and the bright hallways full of photos, always felt warm. It had been a big house with just us three, but there was so much laughter, hugs and whispered dreams that would fill my heart till almost bursting.”I laughed. “A lot of those pictures were of a mom or dad smiling and me doing something out of the norm. I pretty much read every book in that entire house by the time I was eight, my powers also gave me increased intelligence and abilities. They would bring me home new books and I would just devour them all. They were on the Council, their seats set in stone from our family name. They were the strongest fire and water elementals in the capital, and were loved and treated so well.”
I cleared my throat and wrapped my arms around myself, suddenly cold. “On my thirteenth birthday, they didn’t come home. I taught myself everything from that point on, furious. I studied for hours gaining knowledge on hacking. My encryptions are extremely hard to crack because of my mental capacity. I read through everything the Council had and has on their networks but I was never able to find out anything about my parents, however I learned about everyone there. When I met Pixie, I helped her learn and we researched and trained together. There is something missing in all of this and it drives me insane constantly. They replaced my mom and dad with other people but their names were never on record, but they were listed as low level power and I never understood that. It didn’t make sense. No, I have a feeling they were digging for information or found something they weren’t supposed to and were killed for it.” I finally stopped and the guys all stared.
I sighed. “So yeah, the first part is how you have my powers. I’m an unknown variable for now, although this mythical aspect makes me want to do some more research on that part. Even though I have a feeling not much will come from it, if what you all said is correct. But the bright side is, you will have full use of my powers now.”
Pixie sighed and laid back into Etienne’s chest as he maneuvered his way behind her. The image was nice. Despite knowing the reason for bonding may have been a little selfish. Okay, a lot selfish.I can’t infiltrate and glow purple. The bonding was still fate, it felt right. It was destined and regardless how it came out, it did. Might as well make the best of it.
“You know we should use these weeks to try to control those powers because you don’t want to be the hot sexy instructors in the academy that have new abilities that they cannot control. I’d rather not be killed on my first day there. Preferably,” Pixie said softly from Etienne’s lap.
“Before you ask, I did research on all of you and we knew what your positions were.” I stuck out my tongue, and Dante chuckled.
“Always a few steps ahead. I like that in a wife. Especially the head part,” he growled pulling me closer to him. I laughed and batted his hands away.
Luca was silent for a while and sighed deeply. “Ellie, this isn’t on the computer files and I’m not sure why, but your parents were replaced on the council by my parents. It was when I was sixteen, my parents pretty much married for political connections, not because they actually liked each other. They even stay in separate houses. I joined the Academy as soon as possible to get away from those crazy fucks.”
I steepled my fingers beneath my chin and leaned forward. “Interesting. Do you think your parents may be connected to their murders?” A clue is a clue.
Luca
“No idea,”I answered honestly.
“The guys would tell you we have been suspecting corruption for quite some time, they have more funds readily available and they seem to have more in clandestine meetings, and my parents, not that they were decent before, are more pretentious as if they are untouchable. It’s strange really,” I admitted.
“The Council is generationally run, historically. However, when members pass, new members are voted in by other members. So what we have been trying to figure out is how the hell his parents were voted in. They are high society but not enough to be on the Council. Money talks, but their name would not have certainly disappeared from all records,” Etienne tossed in.
“It is true. Money talks and while we had money, it was not enough to grease up an entire Council and get two members murdered,” I said.
“How about magick child trafficking? Would that get them rich enough?” whispered Pixie.
“Wait, what?” I replied.
Pixie
It’s funny,I have always come off as more easy-going, and when I’m side by side to Ellie, I am. I don’t murder, I research. I had survived quite a bit of my own bullshit before meeting Ellie and other than with her, I didn’t feel the need to share my background, until now.
