“Will not.” I stuck my tongue out and him.
“You will so, and not another word or I’ll take you out and give you a training you’ll never forget.”
“Did you just Faerie-threaten to spank me?” I looked at him like he lost his mind. Then he started laughing and I started laughing. I jumped off the counter and gave him a hug. “I’m happy you’re here Kalen. Last night was crazy and there are so many theories buzzing around our heads. Between the clear infiltration and now other people tacked on to this merry band of fucktwats...and their queen, that's me by the way, the guys were freaking out over new information.” He pushed me off awkwardly, I was going to make him a fucking hugger one day.
“Little girl, I’m going to choke you,” Hunter said exasperatedly, stomping to me. I just ran around the island.
Kalen chuckled and shook his head, “Yes well, the dark Fae know where you are. That’s two attacks in as many days. I was going to stay here and just deal but you can’t learn everything you need to learn with so many distractions. Even if no one had left here alive, you would no longer be safe here; it is a death sentence. I need you all to pack your things and then we need to leave within the next few hours.” He looked at King, “King, I’m sorry, but with those marks you are in danger and will have to come too.”
He nodded and then looked at me, “This is like when Harry, Ron and Hermione had to go into hiding from place to place. We are going to have an adventure, Dory!” He grabbed and hugged me and started jumping up and down. We stopped when everyone was silent and looking at us.
Kalen coughed back a laugh. “I should also mention that sentinels pretty much become their chosen’s best friend. It's how they are able to sense their emotions so keenly and help ground them, and also how they are able to pick up any malintent near their chosen, so that they can escape accordingly.”
“Fuck that, Squishy, we aren’t running from shit.” We fist bumped and hip bumped.
“They sense with their power, innately first, emotions second,” Kalen finished, smirking as the guys looked ready to beat King's ass. Psssh, as if he wasn’t built himself, and now part of me. King was absolutely gorgeous. No one was going to hurt his pretty face.
“Close your damn mind Hudson.” Growled Grayson, oops. I blew him a kiss then the middle finger.
“Ah, mind reading? Anything else manifest yet?” Kalen asked.
“I don’t know yet, but last night I glowed and made heads explode and catch fire, but you saw that part. I was also able to use a short sword to cut the fae fuckers in half in one swipe and decapitate them with a just swing of my hand scythe.”
Luca- “Holy.”
Jensi- “Fucking.”
King- “Shit.”
“Yup, that covers that pretty well.” I nodded with a smirk. There was something else nagging me though.
“You know, Blair jerking off on my sheets and proclaiming himself prince, got me thinking. Before he tried to poison me and shit, he mentioned a concoction that was supposed to knock me out. Which, I admit, sucks as a wedding gift, but if they are developing something to take me out or any of the good Fae, we need to start thinking bigger than magic, we need to start looking into science as well.” I nodded to King, “King, any chance you can sneak in and get your collection of potions and books? Luca, Jensi - maybe go with him as a cover?” They nodded, “Great, so I must pack all my stuff. Remi can you help me please?”
“I already packed a lot of it. We just have to spell the other shit to shrink because I know you want to bring more stuff,” Remi sighed. She was right. I needed my books.
“You all have two hours, you’ll need clothes for warmth. There are pools, and you’ll have your own mating quarters. Also, we will have to trek through the forest, so boots are necessary. It's about a ten-hour drive- the Veil works in strange ways but I’ll explain more on the way. We should all fit in two trucks, Hudson’s and Jensi’s. Jensi and Luca are already packed and ready to go. King, wear a glove, move quickly, pack and do not let anyone see you. That is imperative, and I mean anyone.” We all started moving quickly after that, the sense of necessity pressing on all of us. Some things are not worth arguing about. We didn't ask for a length of time. We needed to pack, and something told me it would be for more than a while, and closer to forever. War was coming, and of course I found myself in the middle of it. Hell, I found myself the reason for it.
We were ready and packed in record time. We each had a few suitcases, and I made sure I packed my bags perfectly by shrinking all my clothes and books and shoes between three suitcases. Yelling over the banister to make sure everyone had their chargers, wallets, money, cards and emergency cash, I double checked I had everything down to the last lingerie piece. I took a long-ass shower, knowing that my clothes for the next day and forest trek were pretty much it. Tossing on a pair of leggings, crop top and combat boots, I was ready to go. I made my way downstairs, using my magic to carry my bags down and started packing the cars. Zane, Hunter and Ryder were going up and down from the gym with all the weapons. I grabbed my own weapons to have near me before I tossed them into the driver's seat and was ready to go. King had already made it back and since I had an eight-seater, he was going to sit with me, the guys and Remi.
When everyone was ready, the boys and I held hands and put our strength to the test, and we closed our eyes and sent out an extension of our magic toward the home. I felt Remi’s connection twine with ours and a purple glow surrounded the home before disappearing.
I had a strong feeling that that ward was going to be completely foolproof.
We jumped in the car and drove silently through campus, tension high, until we got on the road. We were supposed to just follow the good Fae fuckers in front of us. So, I relaxed and turned on my music. The boys sat in the back and Remi sat in the passenger side.
“Which one of you fuckers wanna have a singing competition?!” I yelled. They fake groaned and smiled.
“I’m down,” said King, I smiled at him through the rear-view mirror.
“Well then you get first pick!”
“Oh yeah! Okay, so I’m thinking a little smooth lullaby type of song. The type of song that really soothes the soul.” I laughed and passed him my phone.
Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls,” Blasted through the radio and I laughed and bopped my head to the song as he sang and played the air guitar and the guys joined in pretending to be his backup band. I drummed on the steering wheel while they finished their air guitar performances and King sang with an exaggerated voice.
“Okay, okay. That was awesome. But please remind me that you are not allowed to sing lullabies to Rayne and Xavier.”
“Who are Rayne and Xavier?” King asked.
