Shane grunted and finished putting on his pants, then reached for his hairbrush.
“And built,” Wyatt went on, well used to Shane’s silence and undeterred by it. “And she smells amazing. Hell, even the snoring thing is cute.”
Shane reached for the elastic on the counter and tied his hair back in a low tail. “She has a personality, you know.”
“Say it ain’t so,” Wyatt said with mock shock and rolled his eyes at Shane’s dark look. “I know she has a personality, Shane. I like her personality. I’m also jealous that you get to fuck her and I don’t. You think she’d be up for a threesome?”
Shane picked his towel up off the floor and hung it over the shower door. “I have no idea. And no, you can’t ask her.”
“You like her,” Wyatt said, and his quiet voice made Shane turn.
“I don’t fuck people I don’t like.”
“You know what I mean.”
Shane shrugged, a trickle of unease curling through him at Wyatt’s knowing look. “I’ve known her for less than forty-eight hours, Wy. How about you just let it go for once?”
“Fine. But can I ask her how you were in bed?” Wyatt wanted to know, then choked out a laugh when Shane whacked him on the side of the head.
“No,” Shane said. He opened the door a crack and called out, “You dressed?”
“Yeah, come on out,” Veronica replied.
He opened the door to find her standing beside the bed, draped in a flowing green dress that skimmed the floor and left her shoulders bare. “You look good.”
“Yeah?” She frowned down at the dress. “It’s not too casual?”
“Honey, look at what this one is wearing,” Wyatt said drily, pointing to Shane’s cargo pants and black cotton T-shirt. “Trust me, you look great.”
“Really great,” Shane managed when her soft gaze flicked back to him, and she smiled.
“Okay. Give me a second in the bathroom and I’ll be ready to go.”
Wyatt waited until the bathroom door was shut and they could hear water running on the other side before he spoke. “She’s really hot.”
“I know.”
“Amazing tits.”
“I know.”
“And that ass.”
“I know, Wyatt.”
“Maybe I should?—”
“Maybe you should shut up,” Shane suggested, and Wyatt closed his mouth just as the bathroom door opened.
“Ready,” Veronica said, then frowned, her gaze darting between him and Wyatt. “Is something wrong?”
“Not a thing, gorgeous,” Wyatt said easily. “Let’s go to dinner.”
Eleven
Veronica glanced at Shane as she slid her key card into the slot. “You were awfully quiet at dinner.”
He raised a brow. “Between you and Wyatt, I couldn’t have gotten a word in if I tried.”
