He dipped into the cooler at his feet and came up with two bottles of Corona. He popped the caps, shoved a wedge of lime into each, and handed her one.

“Thanks.”

They ate in silence for a moment, hunger taking precedence over conversation, until he sat back, hands crossed over his belly, and raised an eyebrow. “We should have that talk.”

“Okay.” She popped a shrimp, dripping with butter, into her mouth. “Go ahead.”

“Sorry about the whatdayacallit.”

“The what?”

“The thing,” he said, swirling his hand in the air in a gesture that she assumed he thought was helpful. “The dress thing you had on.”

“The caftan?”

“Yeah, that. Sorry I ripped it.”

“It’s okay.” She shrugged. “It wasn’t mine, anyway, and Delia can always buy more.”

“I’ll replace it.”

She wasn’t going to let him do that, but she didn’t see the point in fighting about it now. “Okay.”

“Anything we do giving you a hard time?”

“The ranch dressing thing is pretty gross, but you do you.”

His beard twitched. “I meant the sex.”

She reached for another shrimp. “No. Why would it?”

“Just making sure all parties were satisfied.”

She cocked her head. “Do you do a morning after debriefing for all your sexual partners, or is this a special case?”

His grin flashed, quick and bright. “The first rule of poly is communication.”

“I’m not poly,” she reminded him and bit into another shrimp.

“Habit, I guess.”

“Fair enough.” She licked the butter from her fingertips, smiling when his eyes tracked the movement. “Except for not getting to put your dick in my mouth, I’m very satisfied, thanks very much.”

He chuckled, low and rough, the sound doing interesting things to her heart rate. “I assume we’re sharing the bed from now on?”

“Well, I want to,” she said. “But you get a vote, too.”

He shifted in the chair, stretching his long legs under the table. “I vote yes, but we should probably clarify what we want this arrangement to entail.”

“More orgasms.”

He saluted her with his beer bottle. “Same. Other than that?”

“I don’t know.” She grimaced and picked up her beer. “It’s been a while since I’ve done this.”

“Had sex?”

She swallowed her beer. “Had sex with someone new. I was with Derek for almost two years.”
