Page 24 of Lead Me Knot

“So soon. Don’t stop. Don’t stop,” she pleads, angling her hips so I can hit deeper inside her.

I dip my hand between us and flick her clit before rubbing the begging bud. With each stroke, I can hear her breath get wilder. But when her nails dig into my shoulders and she lifts off the bed, her voice goes ragged. “Oh God, yes, Baylor. Yes. Yes.”

Little earthquakes radiate through her body, the tight embrace around me, dragging me with her. I fuck. I fuck. I fuck and then crash into the wave overcoming me. I float in the abyss, searching for the light. When I latch onto a star in the distance, I feel the peace that comes in the aftermath and give in.

It’s only a whisper, but I hear the sweet melody of her words when she says, “Come back to me.”

Pulled into her here and now, I smile against her skin. “I’m right here. Right here with you, Shortcake.”

I can feel the pull of her smile against my temple. She plants a kiss there before adding, “Roll over, big boy. You’re smothering me.”

Chuckling, I roll to the side and open my eyes to see hersalready on me. “That was . . . you’re amazing, you know that?”

“No. Tell me again.”

I grin wider and kiss her shoulder. “You are amazing, Lauralee Knot. How’s that?”

“It’ll do for now, but I might need to hear it again in the morning.”

I dig my elbow into the mattress and lean over her to kiss her. “I can do that.” When I fall flat on my back, though, I feel the exhaustion from the day catching up to me. “Tonight, I just want to hold you.”

She doesn’t have to be asked. She’s already sliding up to my side and snuggling against me. “I can do that.”

I kiss the top of her head and scrub a hand over my face. I’m not sure what kind of mess I just got myself into by coming over here, but I’m not too broken up about the repercussions that will rise with the sun come tomorrow. There’s too much to enjoy in the present to worry about the future. “I sure am glad you answered that door.”

“About that? Next time, give a girl some warning. I would have dressed a little differently.”

“If I warn you, I don’t want you dressed at all.”

“That could be an option for next time, too.”

I kiss her before lying back. “I like the sound of there being a next time.”

“Next time you’re in town?”

Rolling onto my side, I face her. “Next time, as of right now.”

“I really like the sound of that.” Kissing me, she uses her body to roll me onto my back. “But this time, I’m on top.”

I was worried about hell, but I’ve died and definitely gone to heaven.

CHAPTER 9

Lauralee

What just happened?

Well, I had sex with Baylor Greenemultiple timesafter he showed up like a man on a mission to see me and charmed me right into bed. And by charmed, I mean he kissed me like he couldn’t survive another second on earth if he didn’t.

I practically swooned to death right there under his passionate lips, his strong hold on me, and the intensity that we both totally understood where this was heading . . . to bed.

Lying with my head tucked into the nook where his shoulder meets his neck, I’ve slept very little, too busy staring at the ceiling and thinking about how much I like the feel of him in my bed, against my body, and how comforting his presence is.

Unexpected.

Unexplainable.

Unfortunate since he leaves in twenty-four hours.
