Even better if he was devious with it.

“What you doing over there?” She asked, taking glances at Lawless equally lounged with his feet up on the soft cushioned footstool. A hand moved back and forth on his shaved head. A motion she knew meant he was concentrating as he stared at the screen.

“Watching Ruiz in a nightclub holding a meeting.”

“People have meetings in nightclubs?”

“Best place not to be overheard by bugs.”

“Bet he didn’t factor in a crazy biker hacking into the camera feeds to spy on him, huh?” She chuckled and watched one side of his lip, smirking.

On the ride home, Lawless had given her the rundown on what he needed her to do.

Of course, she was on board to help.

Maybe she swooned a little to hear of his crusade.

Being utterly impressed with the scary shit Lawless could do with only a computer, she rubbed her knees together to stop the forest fire from igniting to life between her legs.

Her computer dinged to let her know the firewalls were down, and she whooped, garnering his attention.

“Holy shit, it worked. Your program worked, Lawless.”

Another sexy smirk. So confident, like he didn’t doubt it at all.

“Have you thought about selling it?”

“It’s not exactly legal, angel.”

“Psh, I know that. Lots of people would still buy it for nefarious reasons.”

“Maybe I want to be the only nefarious fucker.”

Now it was Angela who smirked. Yeah, that made more sense.

“You remember that IT genius from Manhattan?”

“The one you had a crush on when you read an article about him? Yeah, I remember Mack Hennessy.”

Angela chuffed a laugh, sipping on the black straw. “You always sound like a demented robot when you full name someone.”

One lone superior eyebrow arched. “What about him, Angela Cabello?”

She warmed all over. It was impossible not to hear him saying her name in other... circumstances, and she hoped the low lighting hid her flushed face. Though, couldn’t robots see in the dark?

“If not for the internship with Archie’s firm next summer, I was going to write to Mack to see if he’d let me intern with him.” She listened to his weekly podcasts and got such a lady-boner for his geekiness.

That same eyebrow stayed in mid-forehead, and Lawless’ stare burned clean down to the gristle. “You know he’s gay.”

“I wanted to learn from him, not ride him,” she chuckled. “And he’s married.”

“You know this how?”

Angela squirmed and broke their gazes, focusing too hard on the screen as she mumbled the answer, making her sound pathetic. “I might follow his famous husband on social media.”

Lawless chuckled. “I can connect a video call if you want to throw your admiration at him.”

Her head snapped up. Excited in her voice. Was he joking with her right now?
