“Did he touch you?”
“In what way? He’s a hugger.”
She knew the way he meant. She just wanted to hear him say it.
“Marco is submissive. He would have got off on your bossy mouth.”
Both eyebrows shot up into her hair. “Cristo, you’ve had him, too?”
“He’s a pain slut.”
“What exactly does that mean?”
“He enjoys being hurt.”
“And you hurt him?”
Lawless smirked. “When he asked nicely.”
Something twisted inside Angela. It unfurled and clawed through the inside of her stomach until she wanted to vomit.
Jealousy.
She was jealous of Jay Benz and obedient Marco.
Lawless hit the nail on the head. The guy loved being told what to do. She just hadn’t realized it was sexual to him.
“Then no, Marco hasn’t touched me like that. Not sure I could have punched his lights out, anyway.” Even if she could have turned into a Domme for Marco, he wasn’t her type. Too pretty, too soft, and giving. She liked a man who was hard, cold, and unrelenting. A man who could storm buildings for her and tell her no and put her in her place.
Because Angela could admit, she was a handful and far too in control for the likes of the Marco’s of this world.
Maybe she should get with someone like Marco after all. At least she’d be in charge and wouldn’t get her heart ripped out.
She’d ask Robinne’s advice. Not Lucia, because that woman was determined Angela find “the one.” Like she thought Angela’s eggs might disintegrate to dust if she wasn’t hooked up by the end of the year. Just because Lucia finally caught the love of her life didn’t mean it was in the cards for her. Real life didn’t work like a movie.
And Angela didn’t want a love life yet.
Now, getting laid was a whole new story.
Maybe she should have taken Marco up on his blatant innuendos.
But anyway, back to the demon in the room.
She blinked as he stared unashamedly, watching her going through her busy thoughts.
Her brain was always busy, and Angela slept with the help of a rain noise app.
“What?” she finally snapped, too itchy underneath her skin to take his intense staring.
And when Lawless spoke, his voice had dropped an octave, which seemed impossible, seeing as his voice was already deeper than the murky ocean.
It sent a wash of shivers all over the surface of her skin.
“Jay. Has he touched you?”
ELEVEN
“Reading her pain.” - Lawless
