“You seem to like me in your sleep.”
I huff and glare at him. “No, I don’t like you ever.”
“That’s a shame because you were moaning and seemed to really like my cock.”
“I was dreaming about a man who is much bigger and hotter,” I lie.
Rowan smirks. “I bet you were. Well, I gotta go take care of myself now, and don’t worry, I’ll be thinking of a woman much nicer than you as I come all over the walls.”
He gets up out of the bed, heading to the bathroom, and I wrap my arms around my legs to keep myself from following him so I can see if everything I dreamed is real.
God, I am a mess.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Faye asks as I’m putting my backpack together.
“Yes, I’m sure.”
“But you’ve never gone hiking like this, have you?”
“No.”
She laughs. “And you think now is a good time to try it? Are you insane?”
I have to go get lost in the woods for a little while to get my head on straight. After my very horrible morning, I went to the kitchen while he was jerking off and had breakfast and read more about the stunning views in this area. All the guides talk about how beautiful the mountain is off the trails. I’ve always wanted to go, and Faye’s parents have all kinds of gear here to make it possible.
Once Rowan came out of the room, I went in to shower, and by the time I came out, he was already gone.
That was one less thing to worry about.
However, now Faye is acting like a mother hen. “I’ll be fine. I work on a farm and I’ve dealt with all kinds of stuff. I’ll pack everything I need, and I’ll be back tomorrow morning.”
She sighs heavily. “If you say so.”
“I do. I need this. It’ll be an adventure and I need some peace and tranquility, not staying in the room with a big jerk.”
One brow rises. “Okay . . .”
I lean in and kiss her cheek. “I promise it’ll be great.”
“It might storm, Char. The clouds are forming, and they said the temperature will drop if it does roll in. Maybe wait until tomorrow. Joey might want to go or Sawyer or . . .”
I put my hand up. “We don’t talk about that last one. He’s dead to me.”
He has to be, because if not, then I’ll have to see him again and deal with the fact that I dry humped him this morning.
No, for now, we are going to do what gives me peace.
“I see you two are still being idiots.”
She doesn’t know the half of it. “Nope, just best not to speak his name. He’s like Beetlejuice, say it three times and he’ll appear. I’d rather not take my chances.” Faye shakes her head and hands me a pack with a shovel. “What’s that?”
“Avalanche gear. You have to be prepared, and you really shouldn’t go alone.”
“You worry too much, you sound like Aurora,” I say, knowing it’ll irritate her. Faye and Aurora aren’t exactly each other’s biggest fans. Faye thinks her leaving me was shitty, and that she’s dramatic, which she is, but...she’s my sister.
“The snow is practically melted, and if it rains, which the weatherman said it’s less than a ten percent chance, it’ll melt even more.”
“Well, for the first time ever, I agree with your sister.”
