Rowan is pulling stuff out of his bag, and I wait for him to finish so we can have this out. When he sees me, he grins.
Ugh.
“So, what ground rules do you have, princess?”
“You can stay in my room if you promise to agree to the terms.”
Rowan cocks his head to the side. “Your room?”
“Yes, I was here first, therefore if we go based on the rules of dibs, then it’s mine.”
He huffs a laugh. “Let’s hear your rules, Charlotte.”
Here we go. “Number one, you will be nice to me.”
“I’m always nice to you.”
Yeah right. Instead of fighting with him, I let it go and focus on getting the rules out. “Number two, no touching.”
“Like that’s going to ever happen.”
I try not to be offended, but it stings a little. Not that I want him to want to touch me, but I mean, doesn’t every girl want to be wanted?
I’ll address those thoughts later.
“Number three,” I soldier forth. “I get the shower first, no matter when. I plan on going hiking tomorrow and I’m going to want to shower as soon as I’m done. Since I was in the room first and didn’t know I’d be sharing withyou, I call permanent dibs.”
Rowan rolls his eyes. “There are no permanent dibs. If I get backbefore you’re done, I’m not sitting around to wait for you to shower first.”
“Fine, then I get it first if we get here at the same time.”
He walks to me, stopping when he’s practically touching me. God, he’s tall. I don’t know why I never really noticed it. Maybe it’s because I feel a little small right now, standing here in a skimpy outfit, hair dripping wet, and Rowan is...not.
I wait as he just stands here, looking down at me, his blue eyes never wavering. “Any other rules?” His deep voice sends a shiver down my spine.
“Yeah, you can never tell anyone about this.”
The last thing I need is Aurora finding out we slept in the same bed. She’ll have a coronary.
“Believe me, no one would ever believe it.”
“Do you agree to the rules?”
“And if I don’t?” he asks.
“Then you’re sleeping in your truck.”
He smirks. “I agree, but you have to agree to my one rule.”
“And what’s that?”
His face inches closer, so close that we’re breathing one breath. “You have to be nice to me the whole weekend.”
Yeah right. That’s never going to happen. However, I’m exhausted and tomorrow is going to be a daunting day. I need sleep before I head out early in the morning. “I promise to try. We can do this for two nights and be adults.”
He shakes his head and then steps back. “Okay then.”
Rowan rips his shirt off so fast I stand here stunned for a second. “What are you doing?”
