It is. I love it.
“After I had the name made and the website went up, it sort of spiraled,” Faye explains. “You know how I am. I get a little excited and, again, I wanted to do this for your birthday. We all love and support you, Char. Rowan and I thought you’d be happy.”
Rowan knew? I feel a mix of things, and I’m trying to focus on the good ones. I’m scared because I’m not exactly tech savvy and don’t know much about selling goods like this. I’m also touched beyond belief that they did this and have so much faith insomething I really didn’t think would be anything other than a fun hobby.
“I am happy!” I say, feeling like I can smile after the shock and fear have run out a little. “I’m so overwhelmed, Faye. You guys...I mean, I didn’t really plan anything.”
“Well, plan all the things!” Faye says, pulling me in for a hug. “Listen, I’m going to get a little ahead of myself because I am who I am. I was talking to Brynn earlier and Mrs. Cooke owns that little store over on Main Street, which would be kind of the perfect place to open a store. I’m just saying . . .”
Yeah, I’m not even going there right now. Not a chance. “Can we take a second to let me even absorb part one of this?”
Brynn laughs. “I’m sure I can negotiate a great rate if you decide you want it. Just know that.”
“Okay.”
Rowan comes over, a smile on his lips as he walks right to me, ignoring his sister and my best friend, pulling me to him. “Hi.”
“Hi.”
“Did Faye tell you how famous you are?”
I laugh a little. “She did. How long have you known this?”
“About five minutes longer than you. I knew the other stuff but not that she went viral,” he admits.
I exhale, my hands resting on his solid chest. “I’m a bit overwhelmed.”
Not to mention I’m still reeling from his insane proposal that I don’t even think he was serious about anyway.
“I’ll overwhelm you later.”
I snort laugh and then turn to Faye. “So, you have over two million views, what does that mean?”
“It means”—Faye hooks her arm in mine, pulling me away from Rowan—“you have many orders and are going to need to get to work. Because you, my friend, are about to have a very good start on your new business.”
“How many more orders came in, love?” Rowan asks as I’m canning the newest batch.
When Faye said a good start, she wasn’t even close. It’s an unbelievable start. A start I can’t even process because we have nowhere near enough product to fulfill orders.
“I can’t look,” I admit while trying not to spill a drop of this liquid gold.
He walks over, kisses my temple. “I’m proud of you, baby.”
I smile. “Thank you.”
Rowan not only believes in me but also he’s gone above and beyond. He bought another double boiler for me so I can have two batches going, had Brynlee set me up with all the business paperwork I needed so I can...do taxes. However, the best thing he does is come over every night, after working all day, to help me tie little ribbons with sprigs of pine.
It’s . . . my whole fucking heart.
He shows up.
He is always here. He hasn’t failed me once.
Rowan hasn’t had to tell me all the things he wants to do for me, he just does them. For the first time in my life, I feel like I can actually rely on someone, no matter what.
It’s fucking terrifying.
“Are you still working on adding new products?” Rowan asks as he heaves over the one hundred and twenty orders we were able to fill today.
