She looks to the couch where they both sit and her shoulders drop just a touch. “Okay.”
Grady looks at his watch. “We have to get going. Jett and I are having dinner with my brother. I’m sorry I can’t stay longer.” He stands and walks over, hefting Jett into his arms.
“Don’t apologize. We all appreciate you stopping by on such short notice. Tell Asher we said hello.”
“I will.” He looks to the girls. “It was great meeting you both. I look forward to getting to know you better when we’re in Oregon.”
Blakely and Brielle both wave. “Us too!”
They walk to the door and I follow, opening it for him. When he’s over the threshold he turns, winks, and gives me a killer smile, and I sigh, like the girlfriend watching her man walk away.
Yup, I’m a fool.

GRADY
Today couldn’t have gone any better if I wanted it to and I have to tell Addison about it. So here I am, way too fucking late at night, knocking on her door because she’s the first person I want to share the news with.
The light flicks on in the hall and I see the curtain move on the side. “Grady?” Addison says, clutching a robe closed as she opens the door. “Are you okay?”
“Addy, today was...so...I can’t even tell you.”
“Come in and find your words.”
I walk past her, my excitement growing as the best freaking possibilities are coming to light. I pace the living room and assemble my thoughts. “Okay, you know how I was going to Virginia Beach with Connor today?”
“Yeah.”
I nod. “When I was there, he set me up a meeting with the co-owner of Cole Securities.”
“I remember...I’ve met them.”
“Well, the meeting went great. All of them are former military, so immediately I was welcomed into the fold.” I smile and then what she said hits me. “Wait, you know those guys?”
She laughs with a shake of her head. “Yeah, they’re friends with Spencer and...ended up helping Brielle when she was recovering.”
Talk about coincidences.
“Small world. Anyway, so he knows these guys, he served with two other guys that work for them, anyway, a lot of times they need to go places quickly and have two company jets, but are debating adding another one—and a pilot—on standby. Which they’d pay very handsomely to have.”
Addison smiles. “That means you?”
“Maybe. They’re not sure about adding the expense, but it was a great meeting, and I’m really hopeful.”
“Oh! Grady! That’s amazing!” She rushes forward, jumping into my arms.
I spin her around, feeling so much excitement.
When I put her down, I don’t release her, we stand with her arms looped around my neck and my hands on her hips. “If they invest, then...”
“Then you get what you want.”
I want to kiss her.
The thought is screaming at me and suddenly, that’s all I can think about.
Her eyes are soft as she looks at me, hands falling to my chest. She wants this too, and I don’t have the strength to resist.
