“You have more than that, Addy. So much more. Don’t sell yourself short because you’ve met a bunch of asshats who didn’t see you for what you are.”
Her lips part and she sucks in a soft breath. “And what is that?”
“A woman better than any of us deserve.”

“Daddy, I fly?” Jett asks as he runs around the plane. My buddy had this one stored in New Jersey and never flew it. When I mentioned I was getting out and starting a business, he gave it to me for next to nothing.
It’s a nice-looking plane, a bit older, lacking some of the new features, but I’m using it for lessons or deliveries, not people, which is why I need something fancier if I want to start my other business venture. This is a 2017 and no millionaire wants to fly in a plane that’s past five years if it’s not still luxurious, and this...isn’t.
Still, it works, and did I mention it was cheap?
“Not today, my man.”
Today I just needed to do some maintenance since I have to deliver in Virginia Beach in two days. I don’t normally agree to go, but this was a personal favor from Connor Arrowood. He works for a security company and needs to deliver this himself by hand, and the drive would be over eight hours, but by plane, it’s two. He wants to be back home the same day for some reason.
He sweetened the deal when he said he’d like to introduce me to the owner, who might be a great investor or a possible new client to do courier projects with.
“Pwease! I go in the sky!” He puts his arms out like a plane, moving around the hangar.
I was so like him with planes. I loved them, even as a kid.
“Do you want to fly it?”
He nods vigorously. “Well, I need a co-pilot, can you do it?”
“I fly the plane!”
I open the door and heft him up. He gets in the seat, and I laugh because he can’t even see over the yoke.
I walk around, climbing in beside him. “Okay, get your headset.”
He looks around and grabs it, pulling it on to rest at his chin.
“Good job,” I say as I fight back laughter. He looks so damn cute. I grab my phone and he looks at me with a wide smile. After snapping a photo, I send it off to my siblings in our annoying group chat (which I keep silenced), and then to Addy.
The red notification pops up from the chat.

Oh. My. God. I want to squish his little face!
Asher
Thank God he looks like his mother.
Rowan
Why are you sending photos in here? This is where we say dirty jokes and make Brynn uncomfortable. However, my nephew probably can fly better than you.
Brynn is the only one I like.
Asher
Shocking. She’s the only one any of us like.
That’s not true, but it works in our never-ending text chain of sarcasm and assholery.
