Jackson smiles. “I wouldn’t miss it for the world. Congratulations to you both.”
Holden shakes his hand. “Thank you.”
“This is my wife, Catherine.”
Beside him is a lovely woman with long brown hair and a smile that could disarm anyone. “Thank you for coming and for sharing your husband with all of us who need him.”
Catherine grins, her eyes turning soft when she looks up at Jackson. “You’re welcome. I like when he takes jobs like yours where he can protect people who genuinely need it. I am so happy your story ended this way.”
“Me too.”
Jackson gets moved to the side, and a familiar face comes into view. “Enough hogging the bride.”
“Zach.” I smile as soon as I see him.
“Hey, Sophie. Look at you, happy and glowing.”
I give him a hug, and then he introduces me to the most stunningly beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. She has blonde hair falling in waves down her back in the loveliest black dress. “You must be Millie,” I say before Zach can finish.
Millie is who saved my life with this wedding dress. I panicked and remembered what Zach said about her store. It was a long shot, but she was able to get in touch with one of the designers she works with, and they had a maternity dress in stock.
“I am, and can I say, as a former wedding planner, this is absolutely stunning, and you are radiant.”
“Well, if it weren’t for you, I’d be an absolute wreck right now. Thank you for working your magic.”
She waves her hand dismissively. “You would’ve been beautiful in anything, and I was happy to help.”
Zach wraps his arm around her from behind before kissing her temple. “She’s a miracle.”
My heart melts at seeing him with her. It’s clear they’re perfect for each other. “She sure is.”
“We won’t hold you up any longer,” Zach says, looking back at the line forming. “Congrats, Holden. May you have all the happiness in the world.”
Holden pats Zach on the back. “Thanks, man.”
It’s so strange since we’ve been married over a year, but today made it feel brand new. We recited our vows again, renewing our love and devotion, and Eden was a part of our ceremony, which was perfect.
The line isn’t all that long, we kept our ceremony small and filled with the people we love most.
When the last person in line walks toward us, Holden’s entire face lights up. There is a beautiful woman, tall, shorter blonde hair, and she clearly adores my husband. They embrace and then he steps back, moving his hand to the small of my back.
“Addy, I’d like you to meet my wife, Sophie.”
A perfectly lovely woman gives me the warmest smile and pulls me into her arms. “It’s so wonderful to meet you. I’ve heard so much about you from the guys.”
“You as well! I feel as though we’re already friends.” She and I have spoken a few times, and Holden raves about her. Addison was a big part of their lives, and I know they all miss her desperately. It’s clear that she was more than just Isaac’s wife to them. She was their friend as well.
“And this little squirt is Elodie,” Holden explains, lifting her up in his arms and kissing her cheek before placing her back on the floor.
I get down low so we’re eye-to-eye. “Hello, Elodie, it’s lovely to meet you.”
She ducks behind her mother’s legs, and Holden laughs. “I can’t believe she’s almost three. It feels like just yesterday we came to the hospital when she was born.”
“Tell me about it,” Addy says with a bit of exhaustion, which I know all too well. “I can’t believe it’s been that long since Isaac was killed. Just . . . time moves on, I guess.”
“How are you doing in Sugarloaf?” Holden asks.
“Good. I love it there. Being around the Arrowood family has been good for me. They’re like their own little compound there.”
