I laugh. “I happen to agree, you are a bit of a knob.”
“Even better!” Addison says, beaming at me. “He’s an idiot in England as well.”
“To be fair, which this is not, Emmett is the biggest idiot,” Holden tries to deflect the conversation.
“I would like to nominate Spencer for that role!” Brielle says with her hand raised.
“Oh, no you don’t. It’s Emmett, I concur. Wife agrees that he’s the biggest,” Blake chimes in.
“That’s rather unfair,” I enter the fray. “Why isn’t it my husband? He’s quite daft. He also can’t hold his booze. Let us recall the bathroom incident of five years past . . .”
The three women nod, Brielle narrowing her eyes at Holden. “We do have to take that into account.”
“Also, he is hated by all felines,” I remind them of another point.
Holden huffs. “You want me to be the biggest jackass?”
“If the shoe fits . . .”
He pulls me into his arms, kissing my neck with a growl. “You’re going to pay for that.”
“She already is,” Emmett says with a chuckle. “She’s knocked up—again—because you’re theonedoctor in America who doesn’t understand how condoms work.”
Not that I can say much as I happened to miss a pill—twice. I was focused on the trial and really just being so bloody happy. Happy to be married to the most wonderful man I’ve ever known, who adores me and our daughter.
“Did you find out what you’re having?” Addison asks, looking at my belly.
“It’s a boy,” I tell her and then grin at all our friends. We hadn’t mentioned it after our appointment the other day.
“A boy!” Brielle yells.
I nod. “We are going back and forth on names, which is why we didn’t tell you.”
“I think we need a community vote,” Spencer suggests.
“Not a chance,” my husband says without any room for debate.
Of course, his friends don’t care. “I like the name Emmett,” Emmett says.
“No.” Holden rolls his eyes. “No Emmett, no Spencer, no other suggestions—”
“Blake?” Blakely offers up.
“No.”
I grin, loving the dynamic of this group. They’re more of a family than friends, and they’ve welcomed me in like a sister.
“We haven’t settled on it, but once we do, we’ll share,” I explain.
Eden comes running over, her hand going to her little brother in my belly. This is her only concern in life at the moment. All she wants is for him to come out so she can take care of him and be the best sister ever.
I worried that this was yet another big change in her life, but she has been chuffed about the idea of a baby.
“Mummy, is my baby all right?”
I laugh. “Doing just fine.”
She nods once and then turns to her new uncles, who all spoil her rotten. “Uncle Emmett?” She picks the weakest link.
