If he means by making me want to do very non-friend-like things, then yes. There’s not a chance in hell I’m going to say that, though. Sean will get way too much enjoyment off it.
“Not even a little.”
For two weeks, I’ve managed to avoid all things sexual, but right now, I want to rip that towel off him and fuse my lips to his. He leans close, the bacon scent still on his lips, making me want to taste it—the bacon, not him.
“You know, your eye does this little twitchy thing when you lie. Right, here.” His thumb grazes the corner of my left eye, and I force myself not to move.
Sean’s lips glide into an easy smile as he reaches around for another piece of fatty goodness.
“Step back so I can bring the food you keep eating to the table.”
He laughs once, taking a bite. “I give you two weeks.”
“Two weeks?”
“Yup.” He taps me on the nose with the bacon. “Two weeks until you finally admit you want to jump my bones and are no longer able to resist me.”
Oh, he’s a fool. I may want to jump his bones, but I have way more self-control than he does. “You’re on.”
He takes a step closer, the heat of his body pulling me into a very unsafe cocoon. “Don’t you want to know the terms?”
I laugh with sarcasm. “Please, I don’t need to know because I plan to win no matter what.”
“I’ll tell you anyway, just so you can’t complain about the results. If you are able to last the two weeks, then I will stay in the tiny house and you’re welcome to stay here until you want to leave.”
“And if you win?”
“Well, ifyouend up losing, I’ll be doing exactly what I want—naked. A whole lot of naked, sweetheart.”
I try not to let that sink in. Sean basically admitted he wants to have sex with me. That really shouldn’t surprise me since he’s a guy—a very hot guy, and we’ve kissed twice, but still. After it’s been back to friendship. It’s been us. Devney Maxwell and Sean Arrowood. The strange girl who was a bit tomboy, a bit chic, and a lot awkward and the jock who every girl tried to kiss. This . . . could be a damn catastrophe. I am not ready to go there. Kissing is one thing, but sex—with Sean is a totally other level of something I’m not ready for.
“I won’t lose.”
He smirks. “So you say, but after we have that fantastic, mind-blowing sex, I am moving back in here . . . where I plan to have a lot more of that sex I just spoke of. And you and I will spend the remainder of my time here as a couple. We’ll figure out what this is and what we need to do about it.”
“I don’t need to do anything.”
“Well, I do. So, you only have to hold out for two weeks.”
I release a heavy breath and raise my chin. “Deal.”
Sean steps back. “Want to seal it with a kiss?”
I glare at him, but I’m slightly impressed by the cunningness he presents. I lean forward as though I’m going to do just that. Our mouths move closer and closer, and then I let out a small laugh, turning my head at the last second. “Nice try, Arrowood.”
His lips touch my cheek, and I can feel his smile. “You won’t even last four days.”
“Challenge accepted.”
Sean doesn’t look the slightest bit worried. He turns and starts to head back toward the dining room, stops, and then drops his towel, giving me a view of his ass.
I am so going to lose.
Chapter Twelve
Sean
Hadley bounces up and down as we wait for her present to be delivered. She’s been using a horse that Declan got from Devney’s family, but this is the one we’ve been waiting for.
