“I’m not coming,” he panted, “until you do.” His hand found my clit again, stroking me through the pleasure of his cock and the toy moving in tandem until I was crying out, clenching around him, and he followed me to his own climax.

I let my hand fall away from the toy, letting it thump to the coverlet as Ryan pressed a clumsy kiss to my forehead and then pushed himself away, kicking off his jeans. I dragged myself upright and gave him a small smile, “Make yourself comfortable, I just need to go pee.”

He nodded and I padded away to clean myself up, returning in a few minutes to find Ryan curled up in my bed. His eyes opened when he heard me come in and he smiled sleepily, “Hey. Sorry, hope you don’t mind.”

I rolled my eyes, “Yes, actually, I do mind. That’s my side of the bed.”

His grin showed his relief and he moved over to the side of the bed closest to the window as I clambered in.

“So… we’re doing this then?”

I snickered, “Are you asking me to define the relationship, Ry?”

“Maybe,” he said, rolling back to face me, blue eyes soft and hair mussed against the cream bed sheets. “I don’t like to share, Jamie.”

“Neither do I,” I replied and he smirked.

“So it’s settled,” he pulled me closer and wrapped himself around me. “While we’re doing… whatever it is we’re doing, I won’t see anyone else and neither will you.”

“It’s a deal,” I mumbled into my pillow. It had been a while since I’d shared my bed with anyone but it felt… nice, having Ryan here.

“Jamie?”

“Yeah?”

“Did Max give you his phone number tonight?”

I wanted to laugh at the timing of the question, was jealousy already rearing its ugly head? “Wow, asserting your dominance already?” I rolled over so I could face him and Ryan frowned.

“It’s a simple question and I’m not asserting anything, I just… forget it.”

I sighed, smoothing a hand over his brow, “Relax. He gave me a business card, he wants me to come to the studio that he works for to do a recording.”

Ry sat upright and looked at me with wide eyes, “Fuck, wow. Really? That’s amazing!”

“Okay well, don’t get excited. I told him no.”

His smile faded, “Why?”

“Because I’m not interested in a music career.”

Ryan looked at me like I was speaking another language, “But you clearly love music. You were great up there and your voice… Jamie, you’regood. How can you just walk away from that?”

“It was never the plan! Music is fun, I love it, it helps me feel… it helps me feel. Okay? But I never meant for it to go further than that. History, academia, that’s where my future is.” I was breathing hard as I stared at him. Ry couldn’t understand, but the music world… it was unstable. I wanted, no,neededsafety, predictability, security. A music career wouldn’t give me all that. Singing was a hobby, that was it.

“You have a gift–” Ryan tried and then sighed, crashing back down against the pillows as he saw that I wasn’t going to budge. “Okay, fine. Just, promise me you’ll at least think about it? It’s an amazing opportunity.”

“Maybe,” I murmured noncommittally and he sighed again but let it drop. Running a hand through my hair as I settled my head against his chest.

“I just don’t want you to regret not going for it,” he said at last and I reached up and pressed a kiss to his jaw.

“I know,” I said. “Thank you.”

CHAPTERNINETEEN

IN MY MIND - LYN LAPID

“Hey!”I said breathlessly as I jogged to catch-up with Liv and Kat who were waiting outside of the main campus building. Other than a few smaller buildings that were off-shoots of Radclyffe, most classes were held in the big Victorian-inspired building. “Sorry, class let out late.”
