Cadence was cuddled against him and said softly, “I always heard that first times weren’t great. That was... great.”

He hugged her. “As we get more familiar with each other, it will become more relaxed and much more fun.”

“It was fun enough to start.”

His hand covered her back in a slow stroke. “It was. It might become my favourite way to start and end a day. And after lunch, mid-afternoon, before dinner.”

She blushed and held tight to him. He smelled good, he felt great, and the baby fluttered happily. As long as she had food and the super soft clothing, she could be happy. She chuckled. She thought she was already happy, but she would have to check and double-check a few times. Maybe a few weeks.

Breakfast was going to be awkward, but Cadence could manage it.

Leska and Im-bar were making breakfast when Cadence and Raek came down. Cadence watched them look at them, and then Leska casually high-fived the older woman. “That’s one thing off my mind.”

Im-bar laughed and continued chopping fruit.

Cadence tensed. “You aren’t going to make fun of me?” She walked to Leska.

“Of course not, Caddy. When I find an alpha, there isn’t going to be a lot of dignity, and while I may recover my senses, I am going to be sniffing, licking, and whining like Maximus.” She shrugged. “I might even fuck him in public. I am so glad that you get to keep your dignity.”

Cadence looked to Raek, but he shrugged. “Omegas are walking sex when an alpha is in the vicinity. She’s not wrong. Her judgment will be seriously impaired, and her actions will be instinct only.”

Leska shrugged. “So, who can guess why I have taken up accounting as a profession. Not a lot of alphas wanting to get deep into spreadsheets.”

Cadence stared. “Is that why?”

“Well, I am also really good with numbers. Now, have a seat. It’s almost done.”

Cadence took her seat, and Raek sat down with a glass of juice for her and coffee for him.

The pancakes, bacon, eggs, and enormous fruit salad took up residence on the table, and Leska and Im-bar sat down while smiling.

Raek asked, “Where’s Maximus?”

“Having breakfast in the garden. He broke into my house last night and made friends with Mortimer.”

Im-bar laughed. “Fighting like cats and dogs?”

“No. They just trashed some of my clothing. It isn’t worth much so not a huge loss.” She shrugged. “Im-bar got me a new dress, so it’s fine.”

Raek got a ping. He checked his com. “Huh. We are invited to the home of Khytten and Salat down the hill. Leska’s structures are being set up there. Apparently, Khytten wants lessons.”

“And what she wants, she must have.” Leska sighed.

Im-bar shrugged. “She isn’t wrong. Just a warning, they have five kids, two nannies, and have visitors on any given day.”

Cadence looked at her. “How do you know?”

“I live here.”

“Oh. Right.” She looked at Raek. “When are we expected?”

“In an hour.”

“I guess we had better get eating.” Cadence smiled.

The food disappeared under their focused efforts, and when the dishes were handled, Leska went to her house and returned with a silky mass of fabric in her hand.

Im-bar asked, “What is that?”
