She scoffed. “No.”
“No?” he asked, a touch of amusement in his tone.
“No.” She turned around and he stopped abruptly, those dark eyes again dancing with mirth. “I don’t know what your deal is, Alexander, but whatever you’re doing has to stop.”
“What am I doing?”
She pursed her lips. Had she been imagining things? Had he not been eye-fucking her to the point of making her question everything she’d ever thought about him? The way he watched her now, both amused and… confused? She began to wonder if maybe shehadbeen imagining things.“You’re toying with me.”
“Am I?”
Kelsey pursed her lips. “Never mind.” She started to turn, but he closed the distance between them quickly, halting her steps and her breath when he snaked an arm around her waist and drew her to him.
“How am I toying with you, Kelsey?” he asked, his voice low and seductive.
She tried to pull in a calming breath—big mistake. The scent of him wove its way into her brain again and rendered her stupid, because before she knew it, her lips parted and his gaze fell, and he leaned in, and she pushed up on her toes, and—
“No.” She mustered the word even though she couldn’t muster the strength to act upon it.
“No?” he repeated. The arm wound around her waist tightened, pressing their hips firmly together. The pressure sent a rush of heat to her groin.
She placed her hands on his chest—another mistake. His skin was taut, soft, warm… she battled against a strong desire to run her hands over his pecs.
Kelsey gave her head a good shake.No. There would be no caressing Alexander tonight or ever, thank you very much.
“I don’t mix business with pleasure,” she finally said. With regret.
Alexander’s smirk deepened into a smile, releasing that sexy lone dimple. His eyes darkened. “Then we won’t do business together.”
She shook her head because words escaped her.
He searched her gaze. “Why do you still pretend you don’t want me?”
She scoffed. “Who’s pretending?”
He tightened his arm around her and leaned forward, tugging on his bottom lip as his eyes flicked back and forth between hers, then he ran his tongue over his bottom lip and Kelsey’s focus fell to his mouth. She pulled in a ragged breath, and he smirked. Then the asshole released her and stepped backwards so quickly Kelsey nearly toppled over.
“Yeah, you’re right. You don’t want me.”
“Asshole,” she whispered under her breath. Desire mixed with anger in her veins.
“Shall we get back to business, then?” He motioned toward the door, then stepped past her and headed outside.
Shaking her head, Kelsey followed, her pulse racing, mind spinning, and the tight ball of longing in her belly a rude response to such an infuriating man. He didn’t deserve her desire.
But good luck telling that to her lady bits.
By the third house they toured, Kelsey was in love.
With thevillas, not the man showing her around the estate. Obviously.
Gross.
“And this is the main house, the largest of the five,” Alexander said, running his finger across the edge of the steel vent hood above the stove. He looked at his fingertip for dust, then pointed to the stove. “Eight burners. And look at this island. It’s big enough for all of the desserts Renee picked out for the wedding receptionandthe wedding cake…” His eyes glazed over as he looked past Kelsey. “Though I’m just assuming… I don’t really know what size the cake will be—”
“Wait a minute.” Kelsey leaned over the marble island, placing her palms flat on the cool surface. “What did you just say?”
Alex focused on her. “What?”
