She paused, then pulled back to look at him, so he opened his eyes. “I don’thaveto do anything. I was paid to dance for you, nothing more.” She raised an eyebrow. “Understand?”
He nodded.
“Anything else that happens is my decision.”
“Understood.”
“And yours.”
He nodded.
“If you want me to stop, I will. But you seem tense.” She shrugged, then looked around the room. “Look at all your friends. You’re the least relaxed person in this suite.” She resumed grinding him slowly, nodding toward the drink she’d placed on a side table. “That’s your first drink since we got here two hours ago, so either you’re not much of a drinker, or you’re too distracted even to enjoy a good vice.”
Alex chuckled. “The latter.”
“I figured.” She leaned forward, pressing her chest against his and taking his earlobe in her mouth. She nibbled on it gently, then ran her tongue over the sensitive flesh. Alex’s hands tightened reflexively on her hips and she ground harder. She leaned back to look at him again. “I’ve been dancing for you for thirty minutes and you didn’t even look at me until two minutes ago.”
Alex grimaced. “Sorry about that.”
“Don’t be. Like I said, you’re distracted. But I can help.” She nodded toward the hallway. “Let’s find some privacy.” She stood, and Alex took a moment to really take her in, since he’d clearly been ignoring her for the past thirty minutes. She was petite in stature but full, shaped like an hourglass.
Alex smiled, then looked up at her. “Please don’t take this the wrong way, but—”
“You’re not interested.”
He offered her an apologetic smile. “I’m not really a quick fling kind of guy.”
“That’s a shame.”She stood between his knees and smiled down at him. If he hurt her feelings, she didn’t show it. “Should I continue dancing for you, or would you like to be left alone with your thoughts?”
Alex laughed, shaking his head. “I’m going to regret this, but I think I’d like to get some work done.”
She leaned forward and pressed a kiss to his cheek. “If you change your mind, I’m here all night.” She pulled back and gave him one lingering look, then turned to find another groomsman to focus on.
With a sigh and a semi, Alex rose to his feet and headed off in search for his room. He needed to get a few more details ironed out and set up a few FedEx pickups for the coming week, because this shit wouldn’t plan itself.
He plopped down onto the double bed in the room he was sharing with Kaleb, turned on the television, then opened up his laptop. He pulled up his emails, frowning when there still wasn’t a response from Kelsey.
He opened their correspondence and typed:
I’ll take your silence as confirmation.
He smiled as he hitsend. Thirteen days until they’d both be in Barbados together and they could banter in person.
