“They don’t have to tell me nothing. I already know what it is,” Ella said as she rubbed Faryn’s stomach in a circular motion and smiled brightly.
“Come on grandma, don’t start playing Miss Cleo with all that psychic mess,” Landon argued.
“Shut up bastard. Say what you want, but I bet I’m right,” Ella replied.
“I wanna know grandma,” Makena begged.
“Tell her when we leave,” Landon ordered.
Landon didn’t want her to ruin his surprise like she’d done the first two times. He wanted the doctors to deliver the news of his baby’s sex. After talking with Ella and Makena for a while, Landon and Faryn headed to their appointment to find out what was baking in the oven. Once she signed in and changed into her hospital gown, Faryn laid back and waited for the doctor to arrive.
“You got time to change your bet before you lose,” Landon smirked.
“I’m thinking about doubling the amount since I have such a good feeling about it,” Faryn replied, right as the doctor walked into the room.
He took a few minutes to examine her and she was pleased to know that her pregnancy was going well. Landon winked at her and smiled when the nurse walked in with the ultrasound machine. Some gel was applied to Faryn’s stomach before her doctor started moving the probe around.
“Boy or girl?” Dr. Evans asked as he looked at Faryn.
“Boy for me and girl for him,” Faryn replied.
The doctor had a serious look on his face as he whispered something to the nurse who was present. She put a little more gel on Faryn’s stomach and moved the probe around some more.
“One thing is for sure, somebody will get what they want and somebody won’t,” Landon chuckled.
“Maybe not,” Dr. Evans replied.
“What do you mean?” Landon asked nervously.
Dr. Evans took the probe from the nurse and took over once again. They were whispering back and forth, and Landon was getting upset. Faryn grabbed his hand and squeezed it, letting him know that everything would be fine.
“Is something wrong?” Faryn asked after a while.
“Can you see if it’s a boy or girl?” Landon asked impatiently as he stood right next to the bed that Faryn was on.
“It’s both,” Dr. Evens replied with a smile.
“What!” Landon and Faryn shouted at the same time.
He was happy that he was there to catch her because Faryn almost fell out of the bed.
“Whoa. Are you okay?” Dr. Evans asked her.
“I’m fine, but are you sure?” Faryn asked.
“I’m almost positive. I’m gonna do a three-dimensional ultrasound as well just to confirm the sexes, but you definitely have two babies in there,” Dr. Evan replied.
“My stomach is not even that big,” Faryn noted.
“It’s big enough to say that you’re only five months in, but that doesn’t mean anything. You can carry in other places besides your stomach,” the doctor informed her.
The nurse left and got the other room ready for them to go into. A few minutes later, Faryn had another ultrasound and got confirmation. She was pregnant with a son and a daughter, and she and Landon were in shock. They were both getting what they wanted and that was the best part. Getting them both at the exact same time was the kicker.
“Two babies at the same damn time,” Landon sighed as he drove away from the doctor’s office.
“They’re coming sooner than we think too. Dr. Evans said that I won’t go full-term with twins,” Faryn replied.
“Yeah, we need to start getting shit together right now. We can’t be caught off guard with two babies. Makena don’t even have to do a baby shower. We can buy everything they’ll need.”
