Chapter 19
“What time is my dad coming back?” Lance asked as he watched Faryn finish cooking.
“Why? Are you tired of me already?” she joked with a smile.
“No, I never get tired of you,” he replied.
“I know I tell you this all the time, but I’m so proud of you and so is your father,” Faryn said.
“Thank you,” Lance blushed. “Maybe my dad will finally take us to Disney World again like he promised.”
Landon took them to Disney World a few months after Malia left, hoping to make them feel a little better about what was going on. They had a good time, especially since Ross and Makena had joined them on the trip.
“Maybe he will. You and Lennox deserve it.”
“What about you? Will you come with us?” Lance asked.
“Only if your father wants me to,” Faryn replied.
“You’re his girlfriend. He’s gonna want you to come with us,” Lance assured her.
“Are you ready to eat?” Faryn asked him.
“Yes,” Lance replied, right as Lennox came running through the kitchen.
“Boy, you know your daddy would kill you for running in here. Are you ready to eat?” Faryn yelled after him.
“Sorry Faryn. Yes, I’m ready to eat!” Lennox yelled back as he went to open the front door.
Malia’s face hit the floor when she stepped inside of the home that was supposed to be hers. She knew without a doubt that Landon didn’t decorate the place because he wouldn’t have known where to start. It had to be professionally done because the color scheme was perfect. Everything blended together well, as if it was torn from the pages of an elegant magazine.
“Hey baby,” Malia said as she leaned down and kissed her son.
She had Lennox to open the door for her, so she wouldn’t have to knock or ring the bell. He was so excited to show her his room that he didn’t realize all what he had done wrong. Malia frowned when she smelled the aroma of food wafting through the house because she knew that Faryn was responsible for it. She was living the life that was meant for Malia, but she was about to put a stop to it.
“Lance is in the kitchen,” Lennox said as he grabbed her hand and pulled her along.
Malia continued to marvel at the beauty of Landon’s home and regret set in soon after. That feeling intensified as soon as they got to the kitchen and she laid eyes on Faryn. Malia was far from being ugly, but Faryn had the kind of beauty that would make other women feel insecure. She had a shapely, toned body, and Malia found herself sucking in the stomach that she didn’t have. It was crazy because she was always the prettiest girl in the room. Faryn had her feeling like an ugly duckling and she hated that.
“Hi,” Faryn spoke with confusion written all over her face.
“What is she doing here? Did you let her in Lennox?” Lance frowned.
Malia’s feelings were hurt by what her son had said, but she tried to remain unaffected. Lance was all smiles when he was alone with Faryn, but his mood turned cold once he laid eyes on her.
“Daddy said that I could,” Lennox replied, repeating only what his mother had told him.
“Hi, Faryn right?” Malia asked, sounding more confident than she felt.
“Yeah, I’m Faryn, and you are?” Faryn asked.
“I’m Malia, Landon’s wife,” Malia said while extending her hand.
Faryn looked at her hand like it was covered in dirt before she cast her eyes on her face once again.
“I wasn’t aware that Landon had a wife,” Faryn replied as her heart beat in her chest like a drum.
“My daddy ain’t married to her! My GG told us so!” Lance yelled.
