“Call her Faryn, like she told you to. She’s only Ms. Clark when y’all are in the office,” Landon answered.

“Okay, well, is Faryn coming with us?” Lance asked, correcting his error.

“Yeah, she’s coming with us. Are y’all okay with that?” Landon asked while looking at them for an answer.

“Yes, I’m okay with it,” Lennox was the first to say.

“I’m okay with it too. Ms. Clark… I mean, Faryn, is nice.” Lance smiled.

“Cool,” Landon said, happy that his sons were good. “We’ll get her first and then get Ross.”

“Ross and Auntie Makena are at GG’s house,” Lance informed him.

“Shit,” Landon hissed under his breath, hating that he would have to go to his grandmother’s house with Faryn.

They were going to be all over her and he knew it. Makena was like a mother hen and there was no telling what was going to come out of his grandmother’s mouth. It still made more sense to get her first because they were closer to the fair from his grandmother’s house.

“Let’s go,” Landon said as he ushered his boys outside and locked up his house.

Once they got Faryn, Landon made his way over to his grandmother’s house. He warned her about the possible interrogation from his family, but he was trying to avoid it. When they pulled up, he called his sister and told her to send his nephew outside. Landon dropped his head and shook it when Makena stepped outside with him.

“Calm down Landon. I can handle myself,” Faryn assured him.

“Is this Faryn?” Makena asked loudly when she walked up to the car. She was all smiles as she looked at the beauty in the passenger’s seat of her brother’s truck.

“Yes, this is Faryn. Faryn, this is my sister, Makena,” Landon said, making the introductions.

“Grandma! Come out here and meet Landon’s girlfriend!” Makena yelled at the partially opened front door.

“The fuck. Why you called her out here man? We ain’t never gon’ leave once she get to talking,” Landon fussed.

“I’m so happy to meet you, Faryn. I’ve heard a lot about you.” Makena smiled, ignoring her brother’s complaints.

“Look how pretty she is,” Ella said when she walked out of the house and up to the truck.

“Hi, it’s nice to meet you, Ms. Ella. You too Makena.” Faryn smiled.

“Girl, you better get your ass out of that truck and come hug us. You must be special if my baby is letting you meet the family,” Ella said.

“Come on grandma. We have to get going,” Landon complained.

“Shut your ass up and wait,” Ella snapped, as Faryn got out of the car.

“Man,” Landon drawled as he turned his car off and waited while they talked.

“When are you gonna come over and have dinner with us?” Ella asked.

“Um, I’m off every other Saturday and every Sunday,” Faryn replied.

“What about next Sunday?” Ella asked.

“Okay, I can come over next Sunday,” Faryn agreed. She was a little nervous, but she stood out there and talked with them a little while longer until Landon started fussing.

“We’ll let you go before he has a fit, but it was nice to meet you, Faryn. We’ll talk more when you come over next weekend,” Makena said.

“Okay, I’ll see you then,” Faryn replied while getting back into the car.

“You know you don’t have to go over there if you don’t want to,” Landon said as they drove to their destination.
