Chapter 10

It was almost noon and Malia still hadn’t gotten out of the bed. She was severely depressed and morning sickness was kicking her ass something serious. It was Saturday, and Roman hadn’t bothered to call or come home since he left that Thursday night. Malia didn’t feel like doing much of anything, but she’d promised Lennox that she’d take him to the fair. She was supposed to get him at noon, but there was no doubt that she was gonna be late. Although she knew that he wouldn’t answer, Malia grabbed her phone from the nightstand and dialed Roman’s number once again. She’d been calling him nonstop since he left, and he sent each of her calls straight to voicemail. He didn’t even bother letting the phone ring for a while.

“Fuck it,” Malia mumbled as she got up and went to their walk-in closet to find something to wear.

Maybe going to the fair was exactly what she needed to take her mind off her problems. It also wouldn’t hurt to spend some time with her baby boy. She only wished that Lance would start to join them like he used to.

It only took about thirty minutes, but Malia was dressed comfortably in her Victoria’s Secret PINK leggings and matching shirt. She wore a pair of Nikes, since she knew that they would be doing a lot of walking. She grabbed her purse and keys, preparing to leave, right as her phone started ringing. As much as she wanted the caller to be Roman, she knew that it was probably Lennox trying to see where she was. When she saw her sister Monica’s name flashing across the screen, she answered the call as she headed out of the house.

“What’s up Monica?” Malia asked while locking her front door.

“Bitch! Where are you?” Monica asked excitedly.

“I’m just leaving home to go get Lennox. I’m taking him to the fair. Why? What’s up?” Malia asked.

“You need to scrap that shit and get your ass over here to Oakwood Mall with me and Felicia,” Monica replied, referring to their other sister.

“Did you hear what I just said? I’m not ditching my baby to go shopping with y’all.” Malia frowned.

“We’re not shopping. We only came in here to pay our phone bills, but that’s not why I called. That nigga Roman is in here walking around with another bitch like it’s all good,” Monica informed her.

“He… what?” Malia questioned as her heart rate sped up and the butterflies went crazy in her stomach.

“Yes bitch,” Felicia said when she grabbed the phone. “Nigga parading this hoe around the mall like he don’t have a pregnant girlfriend at home.”

“You need to get your ass over her right now!” Monica yelled in the background.

“I’m on my way,” Malia assured them as she hopped in her car and sped to the mall.

She had quickly abandoned her plans to spend the day with her son when she got the call about Roman. Malia was at home losing her mind and his pathetic ass was out in public with the next bitch. Malia still hadn’t gotten around to making her appointment and she wasn’t sure that she should. Having a baby was exactly what Roman needed to calm his wild ass down. Kids had a way of changing people and she wanted him to see that.

“We’re following his ass. Him and Chad just went in Foot Locker with them ugly hoes,” Monica said as she instructed Malia on where to come.

“I should have known that he was with him,” Malia replied as she parked and jumped out of her car.

She locked her purse and phone up in the trunk of her car and only took her keys. Roman was about to get the shock of his life when she walked down on his cheating ass. Malia powerwalked through the mall until she saw her sisters standing outside of the shoe store. She was fuming as she made her way into Foot Locker, followed by her sisters. Roman was asking the salesperson for a size six women’s shoe right as she walked up to him.

“So, you leave your pregnant girlfriend at home, so you can run the streets with the next bitch! I guess you didn’t see me calling either!” Malia yelled, making people in and out of the store stop to look at her.

“Oh shit!” Chad yelled as he fell out laughing.

Roman had spent that first night in the hotel with him, but he left the next day to go by his other girl, Jessica. Chad decided to stay another night, but he’d gone over there that morning when Jessica’s friend, Cian, asked him to. Roman and Jessica had been off and on for years and she knew all about Malia. She had a few niggas on the side as well, so she didn’t care about what Roman did. She was like the female version of him, so they understood each other well. They were more like good friends with benefits who didn’t expect too much of each other. They smoked, drank, and got money together and it was all good. Jessica was more of his speed and the only woman that he’d ever been with to truly have his back. She was down for whatever and Roman liked that about her. She was his little black China doll with a banging body and a hood swagger.

“This bitch,” Roman hissed as he shook his head in aggravation.

He was hoping that Malia got the hint and would have left by now, but she was dumber than he thought. Things with them hadn’t been the same for months, but she was still trying to hold on.

“Who is this?” Malia said while pointing to Jessica.

“That’s my people,” Roman replied coolly.

“Your people?” Malia repeated. “Besides Chad, you don’t have any people.”

“Give me the money to pay for my shoes while you talk to her,” Jessica said as she held her hand out expectantly.

“I wish the hell you would,” Malia said as she pushed Roman when she saw him reaching into his front pocket.

“Keep your hands to yourself and get the fuck out of my face,” Roman said calmly.
