He and Faryn talked for a while longer before they went back inside. Lance went to talk to his father while Faryn took a shower. She had a lot on her mind after talking to Lance and she didn’t know what to do. Landon had never given her a reason to doubt him and she didn’t want to start. She wanted to believe that he wouldn’t do her wrong, but only time would tell.

After being locked up for an entire month, Roman was finally released from jail. He had gone from one parish to another because he had warrants on him from both. Chad had the same problem, but he was still locked up. Roman was curious as to who had bailed him out, until he saw Malia’s name on the paperwork. Jessica and her girl had been released the same day they went in and he tried to convince her to get him out. Just like he imagined, she was pissed and wasn’t fucking with him like that right now. She had signed a month to month lease for his apartment, but she wanted that out of her name too. It wasn’t the first time that he and Jessica had a big falling out and he was sure it wasn’t the last. They had gone for an entire year without speaking once before, but it was like no time had passed at all when they reconnected. Roman didn’t have anyone else to call, so he used the free phone in the lobby and called someone who he really had no desire to see again.

“Hello,” Malia said when she answered the phone from the unknown number.

“Come get me, man,” Roman demanded, sounding angry.

“Oh, my God, baby, you’re out?” Malia asked.

“I must be if I’m telling you to pick me up,” Roman snapped.

He told her where he would be standing, and she assured him that she was on her way. Malia was too excited that he was home and she needed to do everything in her power to make things right. She sped all the way to Orleans Parish Prison and saw Roman standing in the exact spot that he told her he’d be in.

“Hey baby,” Malia said as soon as he got into the car.

“What’s up?” Roman said, as she pulled off and drove away.

Malia wanted to kiss him so badly, but he didn’t look like he wanted to be bothered like that.

“Ro, I know that you’re probably still upset with me, but I’m sorry about everything that happened. I shouldn’t have listened to my sisters and came to the mall like that,” Malia apologized.

“It’s all good man. I need to make some moves and make some shit happen. I gotta get my brother up out of that bitch,” Roman replied.

“I had your car towed from the mall. It’s parked at the house,” Malia said, hoping to gain some brownie points.

“Yeah and what about that other thing? Did you take care of our little problem?” Roman asked.

“I couldn’t. I had to pawn some of my jewelry and use the money that you gave me to get you out. I had to pay a bond in two different parishes,” Malia replied.

“So, you’re still pregnant?” Roman barked.

“What was I supposed to do Roman? I thought of everything that I could to get you out and you’re still not satisfied. Would you have rather me let you stay in jail?” Malia asked as tears welled up in her eyes.

“I’m sorry baby. We got a lot of shit on our plates. The first thing I need you to do is renew our lease and put it in your name. Jessica is getting the apartment out of her name.”

“You should have told me to do that when I first moved in with you. I can’t believe that you had me living up in another woman’s apartment.” Malia frowned.

“That was my shit,” Roman maintained, as they pulled up to the complex and parked.

“I don’t have any income though, Roman. They might not let me do it,” Malia noted.

“I can get you some check stubs made like I had to do for Jessica,” he said, making her frown at the mention of the other woman’s name again.

“When do I need to go to the office and do it?” Malia asked excitedly.

She was happy that the apartment was going to be in her name now. That meant that Roman couldn’t put her out of it. She would also make sure to have the locks changed so that Chad wouldn’t be able to come and go as he pleased.

“Wait until I come back,” he replied.

“Come back from where?” Malia questioned.

“Didn’t I tell you that I need to get my brother out of jail? I need to go shower and get to my stash. I need my damn hair cut too,” Roman said when he got out of the car.

“Why can’t one of his many women get him out like I did for you?” Malia questioned with a frown.

“Fuck them hoes. That’s my damn brother,” Roman said while pointing to himself.
