“Nothing that I know of. Ms. Ella said she got a job and stuff. Landon’s mama is still living with her too.”
“What has she been up to?” Harley questioned.
“Girl, ask me why she tried to invite me and the kids out for lunch. She must not know about me. I’m loyal to my husband, if nothing else. He laughed when I told him but, of course, I turned her down,” Faryn laughed.
“The nerve of her to act like it’s all good after how she did her kids and grandkids,” Harley said.
“She never did anything to me, but my husband’s beef is my beef. Too bad for her that we can’t be friends,” Faryn replied.
“Alright Deborah Cox,” Harley laughed, right as Landon yelled for Faryn.
“Girl, I gotta go, but we have to hook up and celebrate the good news. I’ll see if Landon will grill for us next weekend by the pool,” Faryn said.
“Yes, tell him to grill some more lobster tails. That shit was good,” Harley replied.
“Okay, we’ll talk more about it later,” Faryn said before she hung up with her.
She had cooked steak, lobster tails, and baked potatoes for dinner, but she didn’t tell Harley that. Landon didn’t really like company over on Sundays. Any other day of the week was fine, but Sundays was considered family day. He wanted to enjoy his wife and kids with no added interruptions.
“Well damn, I guess you forgot what today was. Got me and my kids down here eating by ourselves while you talk on the phone,” Landon said as he fed the twins some baby food.
“I’m sorry baby. I got caught up in all of Harley’s gossip,” Faryn replied as she kissed him.
“The food was good Faryn,” Lennox said as he sat his plate in the sink.
“Thanks baby. We have lots more if you want it,” Faryn noted.
She fixed herself a plate and ate before cleaning up the mess in the kitchen. Once she was done, they all retired to the living room to watch a movie. Faryn and Landon cuddled on the sofa while the twins were falling asleep in their swings. Lennox and Landon were on the floor stretched out on top of a blanket.
“This is what Sundays are all about,” Landon whispered as he kissed the back of Faryn’s neck.
“Back your nasty ass up. I feel you getting excited already,” Faryn laughed.
“We need to be trying to work on the other baby that you promised me,” he replied.
“Not right now Landon. Damn, can the twins make a year first?” Faryn asked.
“Alright, but I don’t want to hear no excuses,” he warned.
“I’m a woman of my word. We agreed on one more, but that’s it,” Faryn argued.
“That’s all I want. I just pray that’s it’s only one this time.”
“Aww shit. Maybe we need to rethink this. You got the daughter that you wanted, so you should be good.”
“I want another one. I got her named picked out and everything,” Landon noted.
“What is it?” Faryn asked.
“I’ll tell you when the time comes,” he replied.
“We might have another boy,” Faryn noted.
“Nah, the way I plan to aim, it’ll be another girl,” Landon said seriously.
“You are crazy,” Faryn laughed.
“Aye, let’s go upstairs right fast. We can get in a quickie,” Landon requested.
“What about the kids?” Faryn asked.
“Look,” Landon said while pointing to Lennox and Lance, who were on the blanket knocked out. The twins were also asleep in their swings, giving the two of them a little free time to play.
“They got the itis,” Faryn chuckled.
Landon jumped up and picked her up with him. Faryn squealed when he threw her over his shoulder and ran up the stairs. He threw her on the bed and rushed to remove her clothes. When he removed his own, Faryn stared in admiration. She was kicking herself for taking so long to give Landon a chance, but she was happy that she did. Her life wasn’t perfect, but it was damn near close to it since he’d been a part of it. Landon showed her what it was to be a great husband, father, and just all around great man. He loved her and his kids unconditionally, and she loved him just the same. She hated that his kids had to be without a mother for over a year, but she was so thankful that God had blessed her with her husband. As selfish as it sounded, she was happy that Malia had left him. She was also happy as hell that Landon really didn’t want her back.
