Blood smeared all over my chin so that Remy can show me off.

It feels…

Fucking fantastic.

Kevan fumes hard enough to spark cold flames in the pits of his eyes. As his powers strain, his bones stand out. His skull is as harsh as the accusation in his voice. “You’re with the Farguard.”

“I’m their commander,” I say as I pet Vhex’s toned forearm.

Kevan follows the motion of my hand.

I thought seeing his regret would settle my heart.

I don’t see regret. There’s only calculation in his cold gaze.

But it turns out, I don’t need Kevan’s reaction at all.

Remy chuckles.

My abs tighten.

Finish the call.

“If you want to do the right thing, bring the Eastern Legion to Lomfort base before dawn. If you’re any later, don’t bother. Flee south before your Sire takes the border.”

I make a cutting motion.

Remy kills the orb.

There’s no point in wasting more breath. Kevan will hear and do whatever he wants. Either way, I’ll be here to clean up the mess.

Some things never change.

Letting out a cleansing breath, I arch my back against Vhex. “I’m finished.”

“Not yet,” Remy says.

Licking his fangs, he drops to his knees in front of my chair.

CHAPTER41

IRIS

Shadows cuff my ankles. They tilt me to present Remy my wetness, nestling Vhex’s shifty fin between my ass cheeks.

“Mine,” Vhex growls. “Mine. Mine. Mine.” He chants in time with the flutter of bone and muscle, teasing me from behind.

The fin is more flexible than a finger.

It’s stronger than a tongue.

Every Sentinel needs to have one.

So does every Guide.

Remy licks my lips with the broad surface of his main tongue. Then the shadows fork, extending the tip and unleashing more tiny tongues to explore.

Some tickle. Some swirl.
