I choke on a sob when he brushes my hands aside and uses his thumbs to wipe away my tears. His steel-gray eyes search mine, an emotion sparkling in them I haven’t seen in him before. Fear.

“Did he hurt you?” Cash finally asks, his jaw clenched.

“No,” I answer quietly. “Not really.”

Tension radiates between us, and when he cups my chin in his hand, I nearly lose it all over again.

“Not really isn’t a no, kitten. Did he touch you?” His eyes roam over me, stopping when they land on a forming bruise on my arm. “What did he do?” he asks, low and deadly.

Parting my lips, I wet them and swallow. “He dragged me by my hair,” I answer with a shaky voice. “He said you were going to find me in bed, dead, and covered in his come. Caleb barged in and shot him right after that.”

Cash’s entire body tenses, his fingers digging into my hips where he’s holding onto me. “He’s a dead man.”

I tremble, but at the same time, my body heats, spreading right down to my core.

“He killed your father,” I murmur softly, my voice cracking. “And he killed Jacob. All for power. If my father hadn’t gotten involved with Elliott, maybe they’d both still be alive. I questioned that transaction. I should have researched it more. I should have double-checked it myself.”

Cash pulls me into his chest, shaking his head. “Shh. No, that’s not happening, kitten. You’re not blaming yourself. You have done nothing wrong. Do you hear me?”

Closing my eyes, I nod, sniffling softly. When did I become such a crybaby?

“Can you be my good girl and stay with Caleb for a while? I need to take care of Carver and your father. This is going to be finished, once and for all.”

“No. I want to go with you. I want to see my father, face-to-face. Take me to see him.”

CHAPTER 29

Cash

NO MERCY

Jordyn has beensilent the entire drive out to the warehouse. We’re alone in my SUV. My brothers are in the one behind us with Carver detained.

As soon as I buckled her into the passenger seat, she turned her body toward the window, blocking me out completely. I fucking hate it.

I know she’s going through a mix of emotions right now, but my girl doesn’t get to run from me. She’s supposed to run toward me so I can be her haven. So I can take care of her and be the Daddy she needs.

Reaching over, I take her hand in mine and thread my tattooed fingers with her unmarked ones. As I look down at where we’re connected, the thought of a C inked onto her ring finger makes my cock ache. Mark her with my initial.

Fuck.

I want that.

We pull into the gravel lot of the warehouse and park. When she goes to let herself out, I release a low growl and shake my head. “Touch that door handle, kitten, and you’ll go into that warehouse with a hot ass.”

Then I get out and round the hood to help her out while she gapes at me with her soft lips hanging open. I block her from doing anything except stepping out of the car, my body pressed against hers. When she tips her head back and looks up at me with those wide, sparkling green eyes, I lose the ability to think straight.

“Are you sure about this?” I ask when Xander approaches while Kian and Beckett hand Carver over to some of our men.

“Yes. Are you going to kill him?”

I dip my head and blink, giving her the answer without a word. “Unless you say otherwise, kitten. Your wish is my command,” I reply, then add, “But in my world, no one hurts the people I care about and gets away with it.”

She stares at me for a long beat, then nods and nudges past me. Holding her head high, she waits for me to lead her inside.

If she’s shocked by the warehouse, she doesn’t let it show. In fact, she doesn’t seem fazed by it at all. She stays close, but she walks as if she’s been in a place like this before. Like she’s had to handle some business of her own for Kingston Casinos.

Part of me is proud of her, but the other part, the Daddy in me, wants to take her home and shield her from our dark world. She’s an adult, though, and while I might control a lot of things in her life, this won’t be one of them. My girl is going to be the head of one of the biggest Las Vegas empires soon, and I won’t get in the way of her. I’ll be the first to bow at her perfect feet.
