“Make sure they compare it to the body that was found earlier today,” I tell Luke who lifts his chin.

They ride off while Archer stays.“Female serial killer, eh?”

“Looks like it,” I rumble.

“She knew stuff we only mentioned to one another in our room,” Lyla states.

Archer narrows his eyes.“Are you sure? There must be a camera in the room or some shit.”He takes out his phone.“I’m gonna message my old lady.Bee will turn that place inside out, a thorough background check instead of the normal run-of-the-mill she did the first time for all the people working there.Come on, let’s go inside. You have a room here, right Pax?”

I nod.

Archer shoves his phone back into his pocket and announces, “Good.Let’s get your patch inked while we wait for my old lady to give the added info.I would say Lyla needs to get hers inked too, but that will have to wait once the baby is thrown into the world. Then you’ll get yours.”

Lyla gasps while I grin.Fuck, yes.

CHAPTER SEVEN

–LYLA –

Focusing on the information in front of me is kinda hard when Archer is inking Pax.The Patch of Broken Deeds MC is a red circle, ragged with splatters, and an eagle inside. In the lower half of the circle are the letters Broken Deeds, the top is filled with my name in all caps.

My.Name.Pax is mine. This motorcycle club has a lot of added rules when it comes to claiming an old lady. One of them is inking the patch within two weeks of voicing and accepting the claim.I get some more time due to my pregnancy, to exclude risks we’re waiting to tattoo until after the baby is born.

My heart flutters when Pax shoots me a wink.I quickly divert my gaze to the laptop in front of me.I can feel my cheeks flush and my body is already on sexual overdrive when it comes to this man.It doesn’t help that he chose the skin over his heart for the spot to ink the property patch.Holy shit, Pax is my property.

I swallow hard and this time, really try to read the words in front of me.The information on the woman behind the front desk is the first thing I went through, a little over an hour ago. There was nothing much to read.

Della Hallett, twenty-eight years old, inherited the hotel from her father nine years ago.Her mother went missing when Della was sixteen. The father had a heart attack in the parking lot of a shopping center a few years ago.Not much else besides a fairly normal education, no arrests, no fines, no nothing. She seems like a standup citizen.

There are three employees, two women, both twenty-two, and one man by the name of Samuel Koba. He’s been employed for over fourteen years.Address listed is the hotel.Says here he’s married.I check the program Pax showed me and type in the man’s name to get the information about the wife.

“Huh.”I reach for the files on the table in front of me to double check.

“What’s up?”Pax asks.

Without looking in his direction, I grumble, “I’m checking something. There’s a man who has worked at the hotel for over fourteen years. His wife was reported missing. So, he’s married, but single.”
