“Is your boss ok with this?” I ask, unsure if I should tell him his boss is a few feet away right now. Glancing at Micah, I find his eyes already on me as he looks from his phone back up.
“Um, well I might have texted him I needed to come back because Monty and I are dating, and I saw the accident. Is that bad?”
I laugh, unable to hide the amusement of it all. Of course my sweet princess wouldn’t think of this mishap. Who could predict such a thing, really?
“It’s fine, Princess. I’ll take care of it. Come straight to the hospital when you get to town. I’ll meet you downstairs and bring you up to him.”
“Yes, Daddy. Thank you for taking care of him.”
Closing my eyes, I let the weight of his words settle over me. It’s different from the way I’ve been trying to be a part of their lives. This was my medical expertise coming into play. And moving forward, that same knowledge is going to help him in his recovery.
I plan to be there for every step of this journey.
“Always, Princess.”
Hanging up the phone, I turn to face Micah. Time to face the music.
CHAPTER 18
DANNY
“Why are there no drivers in the area?” I whine as I look at my phone’s screen hoping it will change. As it is, there isn’t a single cab or rideshare person available for the next half hour.
It’s like the universe is trying to give me grief over every little thing. Between actually witnessing the hit that took down my boyfriend and then rushing to the airport, I already feel on edge. Delaying my arrival to him only makes it ten times worse.
“Excuse me,” a voice calls from my right.
I whip my head around to find a guy standing there with a shy expression. He’s a little older than me. Not by too much I think. Ok, maybe a decade or two. Still, he looks great for his age.
“Yes?” I ask him.
“Sorry to interrupt, but it sounds like you need an urgent ride. I left my car here and can take you where you need to go.” At my widened eyes, he raises his hands. “Oh no! I’m not a killer or anything. You just…”
He looks around to see if anyone is listening before he steps closer.
“You give off Little energy, and I try to look out for others. I don’t have a Daddy, but my friends sometimes help me when I’m stuck and can’t be big.”
The words have me releasing a heavy breath.
“Yes! Please yes. I can use all the help. My Middle is at the hospital. Our Daddy is there with him or else he’d have picked me up. Can you take me to Bellport General?”
He nods quickly. “Absolutely. Follow me. By the way, I’m Zion.”
“I’m Danny. It’s nice to meet you. I really appreciate your help. The only other people I’d call to help are also at the hospital.”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah,” I say as we move through the parking garage. “My Middle is my boss’s brother too. So it makes things a bit complicated.”
Monty explained to me that he’s not a Little like I am. That his desires lean more toward Middle status, and as such, I should refer to him that way, so people know the difference. At least for people in the kink world anyway. I wouldn’t tell all this to a stranger at the grocery store.
“I’ll say.” He chuckles. “This is me. Toss your bag in back if you need to.”
Zion gets us out of the airport and onto the main road with ease. It’s mere minutes later that I find us pulling up to the hospital.
Turning to him, I offer a big smile. “Is there any way I can repay you? Maybe we exchange numbers or something to hang sometime?”
He smiles shyly. “That sounds fun. Here’s my card. I know you’re in a hurry. Text me when you get a second. And good luck with everything. I hope your Middle is ok.”
