A yawn escaped us both. We looked at each other and laughed.

“Let’s get you cleaned up and then we’ll get some sleep,” he said, pulling out of me then picking me up gently. He cradled me in his arms as though I was the most precious thing on the planet. I found myself wanting to get lost in his warm gesture and touch. The night was coming to an end; however, he had kept his word and made St. Patrick’s Day something memorable. Something I’d never forget.

“Whatever you’re thinking, you can stop thinking,” he smiled down at me. “I plan on spoiling you later on.”

“Sounds like a plan,” I giggled, attempting to hide my cheesy smile from him.

“I’ll allow you to hide for the moment but I don’t want to miss a single smile later. Deal?”

“Deal,” I nodded. “You definitely have yourself a deal, Sir.”

CHAPTER TEN

MAXWELL

I woke up with Elaina cuddled against my side with my arms wrapped around her. It was the best damn feeling in the world. If it hadn’t been for Mallory’s loud departure ofYou two lovebirds have fun. My ride is here!Elaina and I would have probably slept until noon or later.

When the door had clicked shut, indicating Mallory was gone and we had the apartment to ourselves, Elaina and I couldn’t keep our hands off each other. Foreplay. Sex. More foreplay. More sex. And kisses during and inbetween.

Lunchtime rolled around and we headed to a local Irish restaurant where we shared great food and lots of laughs. Elaina wasn’t just beautiful. She was also funny, smart, and had a big heart. She was so fucking perfect in every way and that scared the hell out of me. How could one woman be so perfect?

“Did you change your mind?” she asked, staring at me from the passenger seat of my car.

“What?” I shook my head. “No. Sorry. I was lost in thought.”

“What were you thinking about?” she asked quietly. Fear filled her eyes.

I reached across the dash, grabbed her hand, and intertwined our fingers. She looked down at our hands and smiled.

“I have to admit. I’m not much of a hand holder,” I chuckled nervously.

“Oh, I’m sorry,” she said frantically trying to let go of my hand. I held her hand firmly and shook my head. She looked up at me confused.

“I didn’t get to finish,” I laughed. “I’m usually not much for holding handsbutwith you I like it. Feels natural.”

“Oh,” she replied faintly.

“What about you? Is it weird? Want me to let go?”

“What?” she gasped then shook her head. “No. I surprisingly like you holding my hand. It’s… It’s a really nice feeling.”

“Good,” I smiled, “because I’d kinda… I’d really like to hold your hand for a while.”

“For a while?” she repeated with her eyebrow rose. “Like today?”

“Today. Tomorrow. The other days. I mean, just kind of see where this could go,” I shrugged, downplaying my feelings like crazy because I was suddenly feeling like an idiot.

Elaina had barely known each other. Things might seem perfect in my mind but in hers be polar opposite. She might not even like me; in any form or fashion. The thought of throwing myself out there just to get rejected was causing an uproar of emotions.

“I’d like that,” Elaina smiled.

And just like that all of my emotions settled.

“Really?” I asked. She nodded her head and squeezed my hand gently.

“I can’t explain it. Things just feel right,” she looked up at me. “Fate had been trying to get us in the same room for quite some time, but I was too jaded to accept Mallory’s invitation.”

“You had a good reason, Beautiful. No one would fault you for that,” I stroked her cheek softly with my other hand. “Besides, she had invited me out to dinner with you guys a few times but I turned her down. So, I’m just as much to blame.”
