“Melinda?” he replied, behind me scaring me half to death.

A scream loud enough to wake the dead escaped me and I spun on my heels to face him.

A click sounded. The lights in the living room turned on. Both blinding and relieving me.

“Oh thank heavens,” I threw my arms around him and held him.

“What’s wrong?” he asked. “Baby, what’s wrong?”

“You scared me. I thought something happened to you,” I sobbed.

Tyler leaned back just enough to look down at me. He wiped a tear from my cheek and smiled softly.

“I’m fine. I promise.” He kissed my forehead. “Why’d you think something happened to me?”

“The front door was open and all the lights were off.”

“Oh. That,” he chuckled.

“Why is that funny?” I stomped my foot and frowned.

He cupped my face with both his hands then kissed me.

“Here, let me show you.” He offered his hand to me. Slowly, I placed my hand in his. He squeezed it gently then led me over to the front door.

“The front door being open, we can thank idiot Jax for leaving it open,” he rolled his eyes.

I said nothing. Just allowed him to escort me up the stairs, through the hallway into his room, and finally into the bathroom.

“Whoa,” I gasped, taking in the room.

The room was extravagant. Like something out of a romance novel. Lit candles and bouquets of flowers were throughout the room. The scent of roses, vanilla, and other heavenly smells filled my nose with each breath.

"You like it?" Tyler asked, gesturing around the room. His hand led my attention to a large tub filled with water.

"Oh, my. Tyler," I gasped, looking up at him and smiling. "It's beautiful."

"I'm glad you like it," he smiled.

"I love it."

"I'm sorry, I didn't get a chance to decorate the stairs or entranceway. You got done with work faster than I thought. Jax took off in a hurry when the system alerted us that the front gate was opening. I'm honestly not sure where he or his car is hiding," he chuckled nervously.

"I'm sorry for freaking out," I let out a heavy sigh. "I just got worried something happened to you."

"And you were rushing in to be my hero?" His eyebrow rose and he grinned.

"Honestly, I hadn't thought all that through. I was just… I don't know. Pure adrenaline. I guess."

Saying it out loud made me sound like a crazy lady.

"Ugh. I sound like a nut j--" I groaned, but fell silent when Tyler kissed me passionately.

He kissed me with the passion of a thousand suns. It felt like my soul was ignited. His tongue danced its way between my lips. One of his arms wrapped around my waist. The other hand held the back of my neck.

A need burned deep within me. A craving that could only be satiated by Tyler. And him alone.

My hands nimbly worked the buttons of his shirt as he grabbed the hem of my shirt and worked it up over my breasts. Our kiss stopped only long enough for my shirt to be removed.
