I wanted to lie and tell him nothing, but the truth wanted to be free. A sigh of defeat escaped me.

“I’m just shocked at my behavior,” I admitted.

“Behavior?” he asked, moving his arm off me.

I thought I had upset him, but a click sounded and a light turned on. Tyler settled beside me again then wrapped his arm around me and rubbed my back.

“What behavior are you talking about?” He kissed the top of my head. “You can tell me.”

“I mean…” I sighed heavily then rolled onto my side to face him. “I came to Cali to help the family business, not get naked with a client.”

“Ah, I see. The naked client is the problem,” he laughed. I rolled my eyes and giggled.

“No. The naked client is not the problem. The absent-minded maid, who left all morals and values with her spark-plug-missing car is the problem,” I grinned.

“Why do you say it like that?” He was staring intensely at me and frowning. “Just because we had some fun doesn’t mean you don’t have morals and values. If you didn’t have morals or values, you’d get naked with all clients. Right?”

“I suppose that is one way to look at it.”

He was right. I didn’t make it a habit of getting naked with random men. Hell, I didn’t even like a doctor seeing me naked. Tyler was to blame for my behavior. There was just something different about him. Something intoxicating that made me act on instinct and not logic.

“Earth to Melinda,” Tyler teased.

“Ugh. Sorry,” I groaned. “I’m usually not this… this… Hell, I don’t know what you’d call it.”

“Relax,” he chuckled. “I’m usually not like this either.”

“Like what?” I asked with an eyebrow raised. He smiled and traced his finger down the length of my arm.

“Attentive to a woman.”

“Oh,” I blushed. He kissed me softly and smiled again.

“Why don’t we just live in the moment and worry about everything else later?”

“I think I can handle that,” I replied, leaning over and kissing him.

“I think you should kiss me one more time to confirm it.” His words made me laugh.

“Stingy,” I giggled and kissed him again. This time he wrapped his arms around me. He parted my lips with his tongue. Our tongues explored each other’s mouths and I lost myself in the kiss. When we pulled away, I couldn’t help but smile.

“What has you smiling, Beautiful?” he asked, stroking my cheek with his fingers.

“I like your kisses.”

“Oh yeah?” he smiled and I nodded in response. “Well, you’re always welcome to them.”

“I’ll keep that in mind the next time I come here to clean,” I joked; however, Tyler frowned. “What’s wrong?”

“You can come back over here but you aren’t cleaning my house anymore.”

“What! Why not?” I asked, sitting straight up. “I cleaned everything just as instructed. I swept, mopped, dusted, and even bleached the kitchen. So what did I do wrong?”

My words were coming out a mile-per-minute, but I didn’t care. I was frustrated and didn’t understand what I did to piss him off. My mom’s business couldn’t afford to lose any clients. My heart ached thinking of her losing money because of me.

“Melinda. Beautiful. Relax,” Tyler said softly. He sat up and cupped my face with both his hands. He kissed me gently. “You didn’t do anything wrong. I just much rather spend time with you doing something other than cleaning.”

“But my mom can’t aff-- I don’t want my mom to lose a client because of me.” My voice trembled as I held back tears.
