“Yes. Sorry to show up like this, but I wanted to surprise you.”

He grabbed my hips with his freezing hands.

“Holy hell,” I shivered.

“Shit. Sorry.” He took his hands off me. “Go pack a bag.”

“A bag?”

“I’m taking you away for the weekend.”

My eyes lit up. A surprise weekend getaway? This is like something out of a movie or a book. Romantic stuff like this doesn’t happen to me.

“Are you really?” I asked, trying to hold back the giddiness inside me.

“Yes.” He kissed me gently. “Go pack. Make sure you bring warm clothes.”

“Let me shower real quick.” I looked up to find him looking down at me grinning. “Would you like to join me, Doctor Holiday?”

He doesn’t need to be asked twice. He scooped me up into his arms. His arms are cold, but the thought of what’s about to happen next warms me up. I could really get used to this.

Four hours later, we’re walking into our cabin. The smell of cedar fills my nose. Jacob told me to stay inside while he grabbed our bags. I take the time to walk around the cabin and explore. It has a living room, a kitchen, a bathroom, and a large bedroom with a fireplace in it. There’s a large fur-like rug laid out in front of the fireplace.

“Do you like it?” Jacob asked from behind me and scared me half to death. “Sorry, sweetheart.” He chuckled then walked by me with the bags.

“It’s okay. You just need to wear a bell,” I teased. For being such a tall, muscular man, he was light on his feet.

“If you don’t like the cabin, we can go back to the resort.” He placed our bags inside the closet.

“It’s perfect. I love it.” He turned towards me and smiles.

“I’m glad. I was worried you would hate it.”

“It’s perfect, Jacob.”

He walks over to me and kisses me. He pulled me close to his body and the kiss ignited. After a few passion-filled minutes, he broke the kiss slowly.

“I want this weekend to be the best weekend of your life, Love.”

I looked up to see him looking down at me smiling.

“I have no doubt that it will be,” I replied snuggling against him.

“You want to go walk around?”

Truthfully, I wanted to stay cuddled up with him for the next few days. I would be just as happy doing absolutely nothing with him. However, I know he has other plans.

“That sounds nice,” I kissed him under his chin then stood up. “Let’s go get bundled up.”

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” Jacob asked looking over my shoulder and down the hill.

“You can deliver babies but can’t handle a little ole’ hill?” I teased.

He wasn’t thrilled when I mentioned about us going sledding, but I pulled the puppy-dog look and he caved. We had to take the ski lift to the sledding hill, which didn’t settle his nerves one bit. Sledding down a mountain wasn’t my ideal sledding either; however, we had already paid. Plus, I wanted him to have a memory of sledding since he never got a chance to do it when he was younger.
