An idea illuminated bright in her head, and she stopped tapping. The actual space wouldn’t solve the problem, but moving somethingintothe space might just do the trick.

All it would take was the right hand lifting up a brass handle.

Her heart began to race. It was a brilliant idea, but she’d need some help to pull it off. Diving for the purse, she held it purposefully at eye level for this conversation. “Mary, I’m betting you can hear me. I think I have a plan to help Will and his brides whose dresses were ruined in the fire, but I’ll need your help.” A nervous laugh escaped her lips. Was she really asking a dead woman to partner with her?

She was starting to realize she’d do anything for Will, and this was the best idea she had, so that answer was yes. “If we make the upstairs a temporary space for the Belle Bridal Boutique, and I bring your hope chest up there, will you make sure that every bride who opens it finds her perfect wedding dress inside the trunk?”

She took a deep breath and shoved her free hand inside the purse, immediately feeling something flat. Her heart thundered inside her chest as she pulled a notecard out and opened it.
