“How did you meet this guy?” Johnnie B said tilting his head towards ‘Bruce’.

“‘Bruce’ and I met right after I got out at that new bar over on Broad Street,” I told him.

“Well, okay then. Have to say I am a little surprised he is below you,” Johnnie B said and ‘Bruce’ started to say something mean, but I spoke up first.

“Maybe, but he got me with the sex and good looks, not his rank in the business,” I replied with a smirk.

“Guess that explains that! If you decide you want back in the game, let me know,” Johnnie B said.

“I will let you know. I have been thinking about it. But like I said, I have been keeping a low profile so that I can see what all has changed. But maybe we can set up a meeting and you can tell me before I decide. You know my last boss and his organization got us all hemmed up. I don’t want to go through that again. So I would want to know how you guys do things.” I told him.

“I can respect that. How about you come by the club anytime Monday before we open for business and we can sit down and talk,” Johnnie B said.

“Sounds good. Thank you,” I replied.

We continued to sit there a few more hours drinking and talking. I noticed Johnnie B kept watching us, so we laid our relationship on thick, laughing, kissing, groping each other.

When we get back to the apartment, I knew I was a little tipsy, but I stayed in character right up until I unlocked the door to walk in. I kissed him goodnight. I mean really kissed him, tongue and all, and he didn’t stop me.

I think I shocked him as much as I did myself, but I couldn’t help it. I don’t know if it was my hormones talking, the alcohol talking, or the fact that he was not only fine as hell, but also kind, funny and intelligent that had me wanting more.

But I knew we couldn’t, so I finally stopped myself, looked up at him, smiled and said good night. I closed the door behind me, stood there a minute before walking to my bedroom.

CHAPTERFIVE

Brandon

I got in my alter egos car and headed back to my cover apartment trying to figure out what just happened. Maybe she thought we were still being watched, but I didn’t see anyone following us up to her apartment and since her apartment is literally the penthouse suite of an enclosed building, unlike mine, we would have noticed if someone was following us. So, what was that kiss about? I know she wasn’t that drunk and once I tasted her and my hands wrapped around her waist and pulled her closer, there was no stopping. I had to reciprocate. I couldn’t have stopped myself if I had wanted to.

I got to the apartment and had to take a cold shower. She was going to be the death of me! Lol. Or this assignment was! I have got to keep it professional at the same time my alter ego is ‘boning’ her! I see now that trying to keep me separate from Bruce when it comes to her, is not going to be an easy task! But I did get to know her better. She is not only beautiful but smart, fun and a real badass undercover agent. She handled herself like a true pro with Johnnie B. She never skipped a beat. She never hesitated on a response. You could tell that this was not her first undercover assignment.

I finally fell asleep with some erotic dreams about Amelia Harper. That kiss was so full of passion it almost did me in. Now I can’t stop thinking about her.

The next morning I woke up to a ping on my laptop. That ping meant it was encrypted from Agent Lewis.

After making a pot of coffee, I sit down at the table and opened up my laptop. I put in my passcode to the encrypted email and realized Agent Lewis sent me the case file on Anthony Romero and the role that Amelia played in bringing down his organization. It also had Amelia’s profile information as Stacey, her role in the organization and the fake charges that were brought up on her before she went under and after the fake arrest. If I didn’t already know last night, I know now that she is a real badass.

But as I read more about her climb to the top of the Romero organization, she was assaulted and beaten by one of the men who found her as competition. There were photos of her black eyes, swollen and busted lip and a few cracked ribs. I got pissed off and I couldn’t understand why after all of that she stayed undercover, climbed the ranks and finished the job. This had to be the strongest women he had ever met. Maybe one day I will ask her about what happened and maybe she will trust him enough to talk to me about it. For some reason, I wanted to know everything about her and not just because of the job.

I got dressed and decided I had better call her and set up a plan for today. They needed to be seen together as much as possible.

“Hello,” Amelia answered.

“Hey, it’s Brandon. I wanted to know if you wanted to get together for lunch today. Maybe go to Sal’s Pizza & Subs. It’s owner is also a part of the organization and it will be good to be seen together more often if we are going to sell this,” I said.

“I agree and that sounds good. How is 1130 am? I will meet you there,” Amelia replied.

“Yes, that is fine. I will see you there,” I said as we both hung up.

Amelia

Right after I hung up the phone with Brandon, immediately it rang again. No caller ID. Hum. Okay.

“Hello,” I answered.

“Hey Sergeant. It’s Connors. I got some news to tell you,” Detective Connors said.
