As we get to the station and I verify that he is an ATF agent, I am so glad that I didn’t have to shoot him! That would not have been a nice outcome and I would have really felt bad. I know what it is like working undercover and in a gun ring at that.

When I open the holding cell to inform him that his boss verified him, he seems to be staring out into space and that’s when I see him. I mean really see him. He was the sexiest man I think I have ever seen. He had to be about 5’11” or 6’ tall with muscles you could see under that shirt that were begging to come out! He had tattoos, at least a full sleeve on his left arm. There were skulls and roses around a half naked woman. My, My, My…!!

I tell him that I want to help bring the ring down and that his boss and my Deputy Chief were on their way to sit down with the both of us. He actually thought that was funny. He has no idea who I am and what I have done. Well, he will find out when they get her. I am not going to say anything. We will see who has the last laugh.

I show him to my office. Deputy Chief Reece shows up, and now we are waiting on Agent Lewis to arrive.

“Chief this is Agent Brandon Warren, ATF,” I say as Chief Reece comes in. “Brandon meet Deputy Chief Chuck Reece.”

“Nice to meet you Brandon,” Chief Reece says and he extends his hand out to shake Brandon’s.

“Same here Chief,” Brandon said as he shook Chief Reece’s hand.

About that time in walks Agent Shane Lewis. They all introduce themselves and sit down to discuss the case.

“Look, this shouldn’t even be a conversation. I have been undercover in this ring for twenty-two months now. I don’t need any help,” Brandon said as they all settle into their chairs.

“I beg to differ. Have you ever heard of the gun runner Stacey Walsh?” Chief Reece asked Brandon as Agent Lewis sits back with a grin on his face.

“Yes. She was a big time runner about five years ago. Last I heard she had gotten pinched and was in prison serving time. I never heard how much time though,” Brandon said.

“Correct because there was never any timeframe given out. The reason is so we could bring her back anytime we wanted to. Meet Stacey Walsh,” Chief Reece said extending his arm out to me.

“Oh wow! You have got to be kidding me! She is notorious for her badass attitude and being one of the biggest gun runners in the state! I never heard she was an undercover cop!” Brandon said.

“I pulled the file after you and I got off the phone Sergeant Harper and I saw you worked as a liaison with ATF. You were high in the Italian organization that was ran by Anthony Romero,” Agent Lewis said.

“So, now let’s work out a plan. Because a connection to her, can move you right up the ranks in Torello’s organization,” Chief Reece stated and Brandon and Agent Lewis both agreed.

“The apartment that Amelia used as her house is still a safe house. She can go back there. She can explain that she was released after five years for good behavior,” Chief Reece continued. “Now we just have to build them a connection.”

“I think the most believable is to have them dating,” Agent Lewis said. “We can have them meeting a club about two months ago, but just recently gotten serious. From just sexual randevus to actually dating. This will make him look really good.”

“Yes, but we need to make it a little longer relationship so that it is believable. Maybe more like she got out five months ago and has been laying low. They met when she got out and they have been doing their escapades every since. They took it to the next step two months ago,” Chief Reece said.

“Um, are you guys going to let us have a say in this?” Brandon asked.

“No,” Agent Lewis replied. “You two are going to go along with the plan we set in motion, starting tomorrow you two will go out in public together. We will keep to the same report schedule that we currently have. There is no need to change it. So every four weeks you check in unless you have breaking evidence that needs to be told to us. I will share all of our information with Chief Reece and you will fill Sergeant Harper in on everything.”

“I agree,” Chief Reece states. “Now Amelia, get whatever you need and take it to your new apartment. We will get everything in line on our end tonight to agree with the plan we just set in motion. The rest is up to you two. You know how to make the relationship believable. You are both very good at undercover work.”

“Sounds good Chief,” I replied.

“Okay, I am ready to get this started,” Brandon said.

“Good, then we are all clear and on board. Talk to you in four weeks,” Agent Lewis said, and he shook everyone’s hands and headed out the door. Chief Reece followed him after sliding me the envelope with all of the IDs, bank cards, keys, etc for Stacey Walsh, leaving Brandon and I alone.

I gave him the address to the apartment, and we decided that he would pick me up tomorrow night, and we would head to the club owned by the Torello organization. Then we said goodbye and headed out.

CHAPTERTHREE

Brandon

What a day! First, I get caught dealing guns by an off-duty Sergeant, then that same woman is now my undercover partner posing as my girlfriend, my girlfriend of all things. She is something to look at for sure. But this assignment is going to be different. For one, I normally go undercover on my own, never as a team. And then I have to pretend to be dating this woman. This woman that I don’t know anything about. I think I will call her in the morning and tell her that I am coming over, so we can get to know each other, the real us, and the fake us so that everything is more natural. This cover needs to be perfect.

I wake up at 0500 before the sun comes up as normal. I get up and take a shower then I made a cup of coffee and scrambled some eggs.

At 0700 I called my guy in the organization, Tom (at least that’s the name he goes by), that I hand over all the money too to tell him I will meet him at the normal spot at 1000. Then I call Sergeant Harper.
