"Don't do my friend!" she giggled.
"I love Chosyn, but that right there..." I tapped my finger against her ring, then glanced from the road to her beautiful ass face. "Is different, and because of that, I handle you differently."
"I hear you, Crown."
"Nah, I need you to feel that shit 'cause the next time you let a bitch play in yo' face, I'ma have Syn kill 'em, and you going on time out?"
"I'm too old for a time-out, and who is Syn?"
"You're never too old for a timeout. Adults gotta cool off, too."
"Okay, but who is Syn?" she quizzed. The twinge of jealousy in her eyes was cute.
"Don't trip on her. Syn only shows up when the lights go out."
"She's a ghost?"
"Some like that."
Silence washed over the car for a few. Four seemed to be cool, but sometimes with her, it was hard to fucking tell.
"We good?" I wasn't one to let shit run wild in my head. Tell me what it is so I can move accordingly.
"We're good, Crown."
Smiling, she stretched over the middle console to kiss my cheek. The shit was perfectly timed because we came to a redlight. Grabbing her neck, I met her eyes, looking for my lucky star.
"Four." Her name brushed across her lips, making her blush.
"The light is going to turn, Cortez."
"I don't give a fuck. I need you to know my plans for you."
"Okay, and they are?"
"You gon' fall in love with me."
"Oh really?" She giggled, and I squeezed harder.
Cars blared their horns and swerved around us. I didn't give a fuck. I needed to make myself clear to Four 'cause she thought shit was a game.
"You can fight it, cry about it, scream about it, shit, you might even hate it. But as the moon rises to replace the sun, you'll say a prayer thanking God for bringing a nigga into your life because, with me, you gon' feel protected, worshipped, but above all else loved."
"Wow, you're really full of yourself." She giggled, making light of what I was saying. I licked my lips, then did the same to hers, sinking my teeth into the sexiest bottom lip I've ever seen.
"You got it wrong. I think that highly ofyou. Four I'ma be the best nigga, husband, and father. Just wait on it." Kissing her lips, I pulled off, leaving her ass breathless.
Chapter 4
River Ashland
Almost an hour later, Crown had finally pulled up to my building. I yawned, feeling mentally exhausted, and had every intention of taking a shower and going straight to bed. My head throbbed thanks to today's events, and my mood was sour.
"Are you staying the night?" I asked Crown.
"It's on you. Let me know what you want me to do."
He glanced in my direction with his dark eyes illumining in love. I knew how Crown felt about me. He made sure I didn't go a day without knowing. Neither of us officially said those words yet, but I didn't need to hear them to know it was how he felt. Crown's love exuded from him at all times. It was in the linger of his skin against mine. The way his eyes sat low with my image filling his pupils. It was in the words he chose when talking to me and the patience he showed whenever I was in a mood. Crown's love was embedded in everything he did concerning me. I often felt overwhelmed by it, but I did my best to play it off to avoid havingthatconversation.
