"Oh," Navy said, then looked toward my mother. "When Honor started living with my father, I wasn't in the house. I went over there on weekends."
"Oh. I apologize if my question made you uncomfortable. River doesn't bring me outside much."
"Mom!"
"You don't." She shrugged. "Navy, I saw you and Honor at Chosyn's wedding. The two of you are a beautiful couple."
"Thank you." Her voice was too somber for this to be Navy. Usually, anytime someone complimented her relationship, she couldn't stop smiling. However, what my mother said barely earned half a smile.
"Alright, I'ma tell y'all this now because I can already see it's going to be a thing," Gigi said, gathering our attention. "Whatever you three have going on with your men, get itout now. This is a safe space, and nothing said here will be repeated."
Chosyn, Navy, and I all looked at each other.
"Fine, Chosyn, you go first because you shouldn't even have man problems. Navy your next and River your last."
"Why am I last?"
"Because Crown isn't the problem in your situation. You are," Gigi answered.
"I second that!" my mother agreed.
"Of course you would." Turning away from my mom, I rolled my eyes hard as hell. I hated that she didn't get along with Sincere. Now she gets along with Crown, and I was pissed about that, too.
"Chosyn, go. I have a date and don't need any of y'all's man-bashing energy on me when I leave."
"Tell us how you really feel, Gigi." Chosyn laughed. "I have nothing to say. Wolfe and I have arguments, but what married couple doesn't? He's a great father, an even better husband, and he spoils me rotten. The only person I have an issue with is Choyce. I told her we could have a conversation, but I honestly don't have much to say. She did what she did, and I feel how I feel. We're not kids anymore. She doesn't need me."
"Kids aren't the only ones who need people in their corner," Gigi started.
"Gigi is right," my mom continued. "You raised that girl. As a child, you took care of her and showered her with love. Choyce isn't only your sister. She's like your daughter."
"Let me ask you this. If Choyce were to die tomorrow, would you regret not having that talk with her?" Gigi asked.
"Of course," Chosyn answered.
"Then fix it. Y'all think because you're young that you have all the time in the world. Time waits for no one, and tomorrow isn't promised. Have the conversation because that's all it is."
"I guess," Chosyn replied as her gaze drifted toward the floor.
"Chin up, Chosyn, because if you can slice and dice people with that blade, then you can have a conversation with your sister. Navy go."
I laughed because Gigi was not playing.
"Choyce wants to fuck Honor, Honor lied to me today, and for whatever reason, I don't feel secure in my relationship," Navy rushed to say.
"Lakelyn, do you have anything to say about this one?" Gigi asked.
My mother shook her head, her eyes wide with shock, like she couldn't believe what had been said.
"This new-age drama is a bit much," she finally got out.
"It's not. These girls are just dramatic and make situations bigger than what they need to be," Gigi responded.
"So, I shouldn't feel a way about Honor lying or the fact that Choyce wants to fuck my man?" Navy smacked.
"Who are you, Navy?" Gigi asked.
"What do you mean?"
